When I in a lobby the countdown timer will reach 0:00 and my PC will soft lock, with only ctrl-alt-delete responding to input.
Anything I can do to fix this?

Well the game has had 2 patches since posting, and I am a little closer to actually getting to play, but as yet I am still unable to start any game.
The game will load now, but rather than freezing at the depolyment screen, it now freezes as soon as the game starts. As before, no responce to any input except for ctrl-alt-delte.
Hi, try to do a new clean install of the game. Like removing your unrealengine3 folder here C:\Users\dirt_junkle\Documents\My Games + ccleaner.
If this doesn’t fix your issue, do a clean install of your driver:
-Download DDU here http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=files&action=download&
-Clean every thing
-do a ccleaner
-flash your graphic card here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=tsafbpr05gmf2o2jkviokce7d2&action=dlattach;topic=252901.0;attach=21727
-install your nvidia driver and during the installation select “new installation” or some thing like that. I recommand you to not use new nvidia driver, use this one 347.88 or maybe a bit older here http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/347.88/347.88-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe
I hope SD is going to do drastic optimisations for driver compatibiliy and stuff
