Hello everyone.
Currently you can watch only offline matches. Is there going to be an update soon? I would love to record footage in super slow-mo.

To clear this out, with a demo recording you can watch the replay as a spectator. It allows you to watch from different angles (used in edits for example).
I do have Shadow play but with that I can see only from my prespective.
For example: LoL has a good replay system.

idk if unreal engine has that feature… I haven’t seen any UE3 game that has recording facilities.
UE3 supports native demo recording. DB, however, does not. SD has never made it a priority to get it working. I’ve read that if you remove a couple of lines from a config file you might be able to get some demos to work (deals with removing the starting and ending screens). But even then the gameplay doesn’t have the client prediction attached to it so everything looks off similar to how spec mode works in UE3.
Demos are nice because they are small files that use your games assets to recreate the game. So they are easily viewed. They are also nice because you can record games and then play them back at much higher graphical settings and record them for use in videos. Idtech 3 (Quake 3, Call of Duty, Soldier of Fortune 2, Jedi Knight 2 etc. etc.) had a wonderful demo recording system that worked quite nicely and you got to watch a game exactly how it happened. UE1 and UE2 also worked fairly well with demos in games that supported the native demo recording (no clue about UE4 and UT4).
League recently added a robust demo system and I hope more games start doing it. I keep suggesting it to devs as they build new games to make sure as they build to keep demo recording working. But most don’t do it and then later on they find out it’s broken and can’t be easily fixed without massive changes to what they’ve already built (in some cases). So few games offer demo support.
IIRC, some of the CoD games have a really great theater mode/demo system. I know one of the Lawbreaker players, @BlindRob, has used it for some of his videos and later recorded demo footage of his matches at 120FPS so he could slow it down and make it look smooth in frag videos. Stuff that you see in the video I linked could be done in other games if the devs simply supported their engines built in recorder.
Shadow Play (now generically called Share) and OBS can record your screen. But they are huge files and will only show you the game from your perspective and with your graphic settings. So that works but it’s definitely a bad option compared to demos in regards to sharing gameplay and for making cool looking movie content.
I’m kinda sure that SD will implent a demo system. I just hope it’s going to be soon though.
I think it’s easily one of the most important features that Dirty Bomb needs, but I wouldn’t be so certain that it’s even coming, mostly due to the fact there’s one in the game files already and it has been sitting there broken and dormant for years.
