Demo recordings (again)

So I don’t think this has been brought up in a while, but if you don’t know some of the community has been crying out for some sort of demo recording system (record your games from the engine instead of using recording software). The upsides are that you have no frame rate drop (as far as I am aware) and choice of any perspective (I’m sure there are more). This means that recording awesome gameplay and creating montages/frag movies is so much easier. And frag movies bring players. For instance watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhFtnRS5qDI

This is some crazy editing. If I didn’t already play CS:GO then I would definitely want to play it after watching this.

I always loved Demo Rec back in UT99, would love to see it added in DB.
I totally agree that it would help make for some pretty wicked video editing possibilities.

@arcaneCanvas I am assuming you mean the source film maker? This is only for games on the source engine, which DB is not (it is on a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3)

1:55 onwards

As for demo recordings, it generally makes a much smaller file than a raw recording, and as previously mentioned, allows access to no-clipping throughout the demo, making cinematics far easier to create. However I am unaware if the Unreal Engine comes equipped with this technology (have had no previous experience with it).

the video itself is cringey at best.

Yeah please :hushed:

this is a sick edit :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty sure there were ideas for demo recordings in the game files. Not sure if it was ever really implemented though.
