Demo Playback

I think it works well. I love having it, and I’m recording just about every game I play.

Some issues that could be improved in SD’s next game.

  1. Jittery screen at times, especially while running
  2. Hipfire aim is not correct at times. This is especially noticeable when tracking a moving target.
  3. Iron sights are glitchy
  4. Doors always show as closed, such as the container at the end of the video
  5. Not all player names are recorded. Sometimes player names are replaced by names of bots.
  6. Some demos won’t play back and cause Brink to exit to desktop.

Freefly spectating in demo playback would be a nice feature for SD’s next game as well.

SD actually know how to do demo recording, they did it quite well in W:ET and ETQW… Brinks demo capabilities are a step back for them.

To extend that though; on top of proper demo and spectator support, ETQW even featured a TV streaming system for broadcasting, spectating and recording matches.

I’ve also noticed a bug where players don’t actually show up in demos when you play them back. Although I haven’t tested this theory, I think it might happen when you record the demo with drawgun off.

When I get the invisible player glitch in a game, it shows up in the demo. But I haven’t noticed invisible players that weren’t originally invisible.

What I’d like to figure out is what causes some demo’s to malfunction… crashing the game after the loading screen. Usually when it happens, all of the demos that I recorded during that period are the same way.

SD already has a robust Demo system, but for whatever reason the demo playback in Brink went back to the stone ages, just seems so many bad decisions were made with this game…

Was mainly down to the new rendering and virtual texturing stuffs I think.

Well at least we got a huge performance boost in return for that, so we shouldn’t complain…

This performance boost was after las patch?

I like the idea of a completely new engine. If they have the chance to continue investing in it, i`m sure to have expected a amazingly amazing thing.

At currently state, it already have amazing things. The game sound like a oiled detailed painting. This is a very nice thing. Its like to have billions of oiled painting in its giga bytes of data.
