Defib Invunerability

(What A Noob) #1

I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks this is a horrible idea or not but I hope I’m not alone when I say this is one of the most annoying things in the game atm. Also it’s notable that the biggest issue with this mechanic is not with defibs but with the ranged revive gun as you can use it from safety to revive someone in the open who can then finish the person who killed them off since they have no bullets let in the magazine.

Now I know if they firmly want this mechanic to stay in the game there are other things that can be changed to help combat it. I wouldn’t mind it so much if you could only be revived once a life or once every 60 seconds or something. On the other side you could also make it require less damage from guns to finish someone off on the ground. As it stands you generally go through nearly an entire mag to kill someone and if they die in the open you obviously aren’t going to run out and melee finish them. I think the mechanic either needs to go or be changed/nerfed in some way as it’s so easy to waste a bunch of ammo on someone who just got revived but takes 0 damage.

Want to know your opinions. Note that I am not the owner who made this thread.

You should be grateful it was reduced, it used to last 3x as long.

Yep, to counter Spark’s Revivr revives. The animation when the down player is standing back up you can actually still kill them before they fully stand back up.

Note. I am not the one who posted this originally on Steam.
I wanted to know your opinions. I have ran out of points to defend why this should not be changed.
And Ghosthree3. I completely agree.

This. Mostly got no real problem gibbing enemis, to be honest. Yes here and there someone getting revived because I try to kill the medic first, but ok, I’ll learn… someday…
And with the amount of mates I see every day, not even trying to gib enemies, whatever.

Medics are an integral part of the game, if gibbing/reviving becomes too easy/hard it makes the medics obsolete. Also the easier gibbing is, the closer medics have to stay to the one highvalue player on the team (Rhino,Fragger,Engineer) to accomplish anything, making both the game and the medic role very boring.

Personaly I wouldn’t mind a cooldown based revive system as the post suggested (and I did suggest something like that at one point) however that would imo only play out in a fair way if gibbing becomes considerable harder.

Speaking of gibbing too hard, its not. melee weapons are instant gibs, so no need to waste ammunition. Just gotta trade security of your position for it. If you need half a magazine or more to gib, you are not aiming right. Head hitbox still exists and saves you alot of bullets.
And as others said if anything fails you can still finish people while they raise up.
Also to note the shield only holds as long as they are not shooting, use the raise up / shield time to kill the medic to stop revive trains.

D’@athi. I have repeated that point but they choose to ignore it.

Gi.Am this is what I said in the first paragraph you wrote. But he and others said that medics aren’t supposed to revive on the go. Instead they have to revive in cover.

And it’s stupid. Free kills from ragdolls who can’t shoot back. They should make revives from Sparks with that animation, but defib revives being instant.

Kill the medic, then kill the revived. Or kill the revived before they stand up. Or take cover and reset the fight. I feel the options given are warranted to keep medics viable.
