Deferred or forward rendering?

(system) #1

Now that the question is in the title, I have to write something here or it won’t allow me to submit…

(system) #2

Hello, hello… hello

(DouglasDanger) #3

I’m not sure what you are talking about. I guess the devs would know, obviously. I’m not sure if they still post here though. NDAs and whatnot.

(0xT1) #4

I doubt the answer is under NDA, its not really a question about Brink as a game, its about the engine implementation

(digibob) #5

We are using a deferred renderer, for it is sexy!

(3Suns) #6

Learn something new everyday!

Battlefield 3, that sexy beast, is using it too. I like.

(system) #7

Oh goodie, and what about rsaa? Is it in?

Here’s another interesting question. PC minimum specifications? Game is about to be released and we’d like to know if that crappy, dust filled box under the desk needs some new blood in it so we can start saving money.

My specs below:

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.13 Ghz E8500
4 GB RAM
nVidia GTS 250 1 GB
Windows 7 64

Will it blend?

(Nail) #8

check how well it runs ET:QW, should be a good indication

if we’re showing specs…

i have an Intel Core 7 2600k
8 GB 1600Mhz ram
ati HD 4870
windows 7 Professional 64bit

yeah, i know the card is a bit lacking, but the latest generation of cards were garbage, waiting on next gen to upgrade.

(badman) #10

I’d say that with the huge amount of changes the engine has undergone since ETQW, it’s not the best of benchmarks for Brink. We’ll have system requirements to announce once we’re out of the optimisation phase.

(Nail) #11

well, if that won’t run it most people are screwed

(badman) #12

This is a good point you make.

(Nail) #13

thank you, I usually wear a hat so it doesn’t show

(MrX) #14

Oh:/ what happens with anti aliasing ?Do u use deferred rendering with multisampling antialiasing?

(system) #15

Isn’t the game supposed to launch in two months? You guys haven’t finished optimizing it?

How can you use deferred rendering with multisample. THIS I’m curios… SRAA is the only viable option

(DarkangelUK) #16

Can you have too much optimizing? The more the better I say, we want it to run like sweetsauce rather than “that’ll do”.

(system) #17

Two months before release sounds pretty close to me. And no system’s specs yet, no proper gameplay video, just quick cuts from thousands of recordings and only some idiot journalists to trust. Meh.

Well there must be a solution for this cause unreal engine 3 develpers say they have solved it.Sraa is the best antialiasing techinque but its more resourcefull .On the other hand Msaa is better for perfomance but when enbaled you lose image quality. For more info check this article:)

Wrong. Multisample AA is the best looking AA. Morphological is faster but hardly comparable in terms of quality. Reconstructive AA is better looking than morphological, has a fixed processing time, but still not as good as Multisample. And no, you can’t multisample with a deferred renderer.

How did Toms pull out comparative pics from SC2 with Multisample AA is astonishing, since it uses a deferred renderer.

Maybe you should check some technical documentation, instead of relying on clueless journalists.

its awesome.
