I would like confirmation about proper stand alone dedicated server files. Seems so many developers have forgotten what that means.
Will there be “proper stand alone dedicated server files” released? Let me define. This is a much smaller version of the game, including only that which is necessary to host a game. No need for a listen host, video drivers, sound drivers etc. Can be downloaded separately from the game, and run on a dedicated server box. Will be fully ranked/unranked, depending on what the server owner wants. Fully customize-able. Proper working rcon.
How many players will there be on a server? SD seems to be going backwards. As computers and technology become better, the ability to host MORE players should be easier and more evident. SD goes backwards…
RTCW = 64 players
W: Enemy territory = 64 players
ET Quake Wars = 32 players
Wolfenstein 2009 = 12 players (yes I know SD didnt develop it, here for a reference)
Brink = 16 players
If this trend continues, then Dirty Bomb will be 8 players. Unacceptable. Can we see a 128 player server like the old days? Say Chaser or BF1942?
Is there going to be a proper rcon implemented? Again, seems to be something developers have forgotten about. The “r” for rcon is REMOTE, meaning we can send commands remotely to affect the behavior of the server. I shouldnt need to be on the server, open the console on the server, in order to execute commands on the server. I would like to be able to use an admin tool, such as Big Brother Bot to administrate the server, and assign admins to other members. Rcon and proper logs are necessary for this.
How many maps will there be on release day? How large are the maps?
TIA
