Dedicated Servers Are The Answer

The best way to address the issues of lag on the Xbox 360 version of Brink is to have dedicated servers, like what is being done with Gears of War 3.

Yup. They should do that.

But it wont happen.

Like I said, if Gears of War 3 did it, there’s no reason why Brink can’t do it either.

The PC version has Dedicated servers…

Money, probably.

Nowhere near the same thing.

P.S. I’m in the GoW3 beta and it’s still using P2P. Do you mean that dedicated servers are planned for the release?

(SublimeShotz) #8

money?, 210,000 pre orders on xbox 360 alones at £30 (it costs more than that most places)

thats £6.3 million , i bet it didnt cost anywhere near half of that to make and publish.

There is a difference. Gears of War 3 is an Xbox exclusive. So not much stink will be put up by microsoft.

Some other games have them on consoles , but I will bet you its a game created by EA or Activision.

That’s a very random estimate. It doesn’t mean that “half” of the supposed £6.3million can be pumped into dedicated servers.

It without question cost more than that. Just do some research on game development costs. Also look into the amount developers make of boxed copies of games. You will be shocked on how small of a percentage it is.

Digital downloads bring in the greatest profit per unit sold and the PC community usually gets totally forgotten when it comes to game development. Oh and did I mention we can not trade in or even return our games.

@PopeTackler

Gears has been running on dedicated servers for the last 3 weeks with the exception of yesterday when they were down. A little look at Rod Fergussons twitter will give you confirmation should you doubt it.
