Dedicated servers are annoying
Those filters are entirely useless the way they work. -.-

Can’t filter out empty servers, can’t filter by settings other than a vague rule NAME… About the only filter that works besides private/not private is the ping filter.
True, they are not perfect and could use improvement.
But dedicated servers are annoying? what?!

This ^

You have to be a special kind to dislike dedicated servers, what next will you complain about being able in install games on consoles?

(MisterAngry) #23

Me neither…

I’m still in shock, actually. Literally the first time I’ve ever seen something like this on a forum…

just play on my server in my sig, has the best settings available right now, its full majority of the day normally, even through the night most nights. cant help with it being full though, 8v8 makes this game small scale
Filter out custom games (or whatever) and favorite servers you like(d)?
Use filters =)
There are around 5 servers playing Standard with good ping in my browser to choose from, and some of them seem to always time out. Bottom line is that all these customization options mean that standard is all but unavailable. And for customized servers, I can’t browse for those with acceptable settings.

I wouldn’t mind dedicated servers as much if there was a good browser where I could set filters for server variables once and for all. But this random trial and error BS you have to go through is just annoying and a waste of time. Whatever ever happened to user friendliness?

Just to clarify, I don’t mind dedicated servers as such, I just don’t want to have to know about them. I want to get into a game quickly with a minimum of hassle, and not have to bother about choppy servers or suddenly finding FF on or no map rotation or whatnot. Give me a proper server browser, and I guess I’d be just as happy (or almost, I don’t think it anything to the game that a lot of the available servers are playing strange tweaked versions of Brink)

I guess you are getting him wrong. its not the Dedicated servers that bother him its the server browser that sucks. you cant tell me that this thing is good!? Someone said something like that. If youre able to customise options you should be able to see the changes before joining a server. no preset filters are also a backstep. The browser kinda does its job but nothing more… dont get how ppl want it to stay exactly as it is -.-

The “named” preset server configs have the advantage that you as a player know before hand what you are getting into. I think they either need to create more of these named configs, based on the most popular custom options out there. Hopefully reducing custom servers since server admin could pick these instead.

The server browser is not completely horrible, but I think there should be away to preview the server before joining. The preview would take you to another page before joining. The page could have a lot more options exposed and the player list. The trigger could be the right mouse button or Add a little preview button?

Alternatively (or even additionally) they could give us an advanced filters options, where we can find the filters for pretty much everything else.
