decompiling a map

(gamboo) #1

ive looked through many previous topics but never seemed to get round it

i dont know if ive got the right version of q3map2 but all i know is that mine came with gtkradiant 1.4 and I am not sure on where to get the update.

i was wondering if i could get a link to a working batch very easy to edit and the right version of q3map2 to go with the batch.

after importing the new version i get stuck here

Browse to the following directory:
JKA/GameData/base/scripts

I cant find this directory in the GtkRadiant-1.4 folder

edit: i also tried the search button in the start menu but was no help

for what game do you use GTK Radiant, this is demonstration tutorial, if you want to compile maps for enemy territory you must browse et.
JKA is abbreviation for game Jedi Knight academy, do it for enemy territory not for JKA, do you understound?. I use this tutorial for run new Q3map2 and it is working

Ok I help you, go to Wolf. enemy territory/etmain/scripts open in folder scripts default_project.proj, open it in program WordPad MFC - follow tutorial, do it for all project files user0.proj - user7.proj
in GTK Radiant1.4.0. directory you must have unzip Q3map2 2.5.16 rename this folder only on Q3map2, because you write path for compile Q3map2/Q3map2,
I did it and it is working very well

(Kic) #6

I also forget to told you read readme of Q3map2 2.5.16, in its folder in folder extras drop all shaders and put in in etmain/scripts , also drop all alpha.tga and skip texture and put them in folder etmain/textures/common - for rigt compiling ---- read readme for Q3map2 2.5.16!!! —

kk ive changed the .proj files but do i have to place the files found in the update into the gtkradiant directory found in program files or the gtkradiant folder found in the wolfy directory (hope you understand :*)

(gamboo) #8

kk i placed it in the directory /program files/wolfenstein - enemy territory/radiant-1.4

the only thing i dont get is movng the alpha.tga nd skip texture to etmain/textures/common
that directory isnt there should i create the directory or go to the common textures folder located in program files/wolfenstein - enemy territory/radiant-1.4/docs/level designers reference/images/common

yes in directory GTK Radiant 1.4.0. folder Q3map2 folder extras, drop files I was talking about little up and put this new shaders cel.shader, common_alphascale.shader, common_extra.shader, lightgrid.shader, q3map.shader , entities_skybox.def in
Program files/Wolf.enemy territory/etmain/sripts — replace all shaders!!!—
also drop all textures alpha.tga and skip.tga and put them in
Program files/Wolf.enemy territory/etmain/textures/common and replace old tga!!! read readme_previous in Q3map2 2.5.16
It must work!!! It works very well for me. I was also having problem about right instaling but I read previous_readme and I was thinking

sorry for my English

(Kic) #10

No! you must unzip Q3map2 2.5.16 to Program files/GTK Radiant 1.4.0 ,
not to Wolf enemy territory/radiant-1.4!!! Do you understound!
