DB neds (T)DM like i need herpes.
Teamplay - gone, merc specifics - irrelevant, defenside/offensive balance - out the window.
And reason why DM is good being “many players dont play aobjective anyways” is same “if your child is misbehaving give me an icecream, hel grow out of it eventually”.
General logic will be: play few DMs, then play few Obj games… as DM to complete missions and then play a few insert mode name… as DM to finish remaining missions. Benefit.
DM would turn whole game mechanics upside down, it would be like banding nails with smartphone(well, you can, but… seriously). But more modes, classical or otherwise, would be good. CtF and SnD are time-tested and proven good team-based modes.

I think most of you are missing the point. You talk as if adding Deathmatch will make it the primary game mode. I’m trying to suggest we add that as a side feature, allow players to create Deathmatch rooms if they want to but continue to focus on the main aspects of the game.

If you don’t want to play Deathmatch then simply don’t, all you have to do is ignore it. It will have no effect on you as a player if you keep away from it. Those who like it will make games and will play it, no one is asking you to play Deathmatch just because it’s been added.

That’s like saying if metal started growing on tree’s you would kill yourself because it’s a horrible feature for trees. That makes no sense at all. It’s not going to effect you unless you allow it to effect you.

Have the option there, if players want to play it then they will, if they don’t then they won’t play it. Simple as that. If you hate Deathmatch then don’t play it, in the end it won’t effect you because it’s just another game mode that helps players level up and get cash. As long as the rates are the same it’ll be fine.

Please keep in mind these are suggestions and ideas.

as much as i love quake and its old modes (duels, DM, TDM, CTF) i think that adding additioanl modes it a delicate matter. At one point a game can benifit from more modes(longevity of the game), but in other times it will suffer (splitting the community at wrong times). I remember both examples in several games.
So the desision about what and when should be added is a crutial one, and should well thought.
My personal thoughts are that we need a little nice duel mode on tiny maps with build in tourney feature and elo ladder. but in no way i think it is needed NOW. at this moments this will prbbly make more damage than profit.
SD and Nexon think that Plant-the-Bomb is their second big mode to be added (called execution)

I dont think that any1 here is missing the point, kinda hard 2, rather simple issue.
DM dosnt have to be a primary game mode, to affect rest of the game in many many many ways. Mostly negative ones.
Starting with the fact that developing DM mode would take devs time and resources away from the rest of the game, since adding DM is not just a matter of preference, but also matter of workhours and human resources spent on it. Time and resources that could be otherwise spend at bugfixing, new mercs, new maps, new modes, new perks, new weapons, new ideas and features. All of which would benefit already exiting game.
And ending with the fact that DM, being extremely basic mode, will bring over its mentality into other modes, where players, who are fond of DM will continue to play purely for frags, screwing all teammates around them with their attitude. No cover, no repair, no defense, no heals or resses. Like we alredy dont have Bushwalkers, who play class purely for Turret and can simply run past dyna that is planted on objective. Or Sawbonez who throw medpacks to teammates mainly by accident, preferring to keep them for self-heal and use defibs purely for gibbing downed players.
Also, metal growing on trees dosnt concern me in any way, since it dosnt affect me in any way and dosnt cost me anything, nor do i have any control over that oddity. But adding a mode to the game that i play, that it dosnt need and is essentially a fifth wheel, instead of new maps or bugfixes, does affect me greately.

Please don’t. People already don’t do the objective. Adding this shitty mode will make the game worse. Believe me. It will turn DB in to a Call of Duty game.

@Nail What part of suggestion or feedback and persuasion don’t you understand? If you haven’t read the other replies please don’t talk nonsense.

Anyhow, Deathmatch was just one of the many suggestions, I also mentioned capture the flag, plant the bomb and there probably is some other modes which could be similar to Deathmatch, however I’m not worried about implementing those.

Personally, I don’t think that adding Deathmatch will influence the game like others have said, but we won’t know the outcome until it’s seen in game, and unfortunately you’ve not managed to persuade me that those outcomes could be likely, that just seems like to me they are your personal thoughts which I disagree with.

There’s no need to jump on OP, for wanting to have some custom game modes/servers.
Those were the bread and butter of most old school shooters that allowed private servers.
Personally I’d love to have a FFA/TDM server with instant spawns, purely for training twitch aim, and adapting to unexpected situations.
The problem is, that this game is yet another one of these modern shooters, with a closed server system, so whatever game modes might be added, they will have to come from SD/Nexon.
No fun allowed.

Now go deliver that objective, the four level 1-3 Vassilis on your team have got you covered.

ps. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for the Minimum level 10 servers, that were added, I’m just saying; more freedom and more choices in these matters are usually real neato, until it gets to the point of MLP-mods (may you rest in peace, TF2).
