Dear Splash Damage (not a rant)

The game is awesome and I am enjoying it thoroughly.
I just wanted to give my insight on a couple of things that I believe would be some worth while changes to the game.

  1. Why do the grenades barely have an explosion effect?
All you see is a little puff of dirt on the ground and that’s it. Even in the some of the older game play videos for Brink there were much larger and lifelike looking explosions. It would make the game that much more intense if some better explosion graphics were added into the game.

  2. Ive also noticed that when an enemy is past about ten feet in front of you they basically turn into a large mass of pixels. Its not that big of a deal, but shooting at enemies from a far would be much easier if you could see them a bit better.

I’m not gonna complain about some of the online lag because I’m sure you have heard enough of that lol.
Anyways thanks for the great game, and I hope you take these thoughts into consideration

grenades, etc aren’t designed to kill with one throw… you use them to finish off or to knock down enemies before striking.

Oh I know, I am not complaining about the damage output on the grenades, just the look of the explosions.

If you get the upgraded explosions under the Soldier category they are much more noticeable IMO. I wonder if they make them visually underwhelming to make the perk you choose more rewarding. With the radius and damage upgrade on my soldier, it’s a pretty sick feeling to throw grenades now.

Yep I noticed that right away about the soldier perks… Even though I find the grenades tactically awesome in general, the soldier’s ability just make them that much more useful.

Agree with OP though, would be nice if the standard grenade DIDN’T look like a friggin’ fart-cloud when detonated… could use a louder BANG too. They’re just not intimidating at all (from an atmospheric perspective).

There’s a soldier ability, only if you are the soldier class at the time, that gives you larger explosive blast radius so the grenade doesn’t have to be practically right under the them to knock them down, and there’s another one that increases damage.
