Dear Developers,….
@Merciless I somewhat agree with you, but you’re talking about community streams now. Dev streams (those on mondays) focus on upcoming content.

But I don’t think transparency is the biggest issue, I’m starting to worry that SD just can’t get used to Unreal Engine 3 and I feel like they don’t say many things in advance because they’re just not sure if they will actually be able to make it real. Almost every game they’ve worked on was on idTech before, and if not, they were developing a game with bigger studio.

Now this is only pure speculation (and I’m probably wrong), but look how some issues and bugs are fixed and they come back 2 patches later. Or remember that time when we were promised lag-free menu and new UI system?

I’m not saying SD devs are bad, I actually think their devs are very talented, but I just feel like they can’t get used to UE3.

Honestly I couldn’t tell you what I think of recent dev streams because I’m looking for one right now and I can’t find any in their past broadcast videos. The last 3 were community streams. No idea what’s going on with the dev streams.

What I know, is that at some point during a dev stream, shoe and barroman (dev) were streaming. It was the funniest and most painful thing to hear when they said that Vassili could hipfire when asked why he was the only one that couldn’t do that. Now I know shoe. isn’t a developer but I mean come on, right? Grab a random dude and tell him to play Vassili for 30 seconds and he’ll know that. Honestly, while I was watching that stream, I didn’t know whether I wanted to laugh my ass off or cry…

I never really followed Dirty Bomb streams much… At first I was into the game enough to follow them but it quickly dissipated due to me feeling as if it was a waste of time. Like everytime I did check one out, it was just terrible. I didn’t learn anything new. Just devs saying taking notes here, taking notes there. Then 2-3 patches later, those noted bugs are still present.

I don’t think the developers are bad either. I just think that they have a terrible lead designer.

maybe they are clueless because of the lack of information provided to us… If you know more, why don’t you share your wisdom with us…
can’t, under NDA, I let info out a day early by mistake and got booted by Nexon from the test servers so no thanks

More or less the same for the forum. Good topics get ignored, ideas pass unnoticed and no one seems to take care of the bug section
Bloody oath. Couldn’t agree more.

I doubt much gets unnoticed, lack of individual replies means nothing

Welcome back Merciless good to see you’ve moved on during your absence

@Merciless

Previous week it got cancelled because Gamescom, this week because shoe. was tired after Gamescom

About that…you’re kinda right. When streams started, I was watching almost every single one then, but after a while, there wasn’t really much new things to lear about the game. Questions started to be repetitive and after some time, I was really glad Faraleth did those roundups.
There are some good ones, like when they showed Gallery before release, or when they showed Dockyard progress, but overall you’re right. Every interesting question ends up with “I’ll write this” or “We can’t talk about that right now.” (edit: I almost forgot "More info about that soon™)

I don’t think the developers are bad either. I just think that they have a terrible lead designer.

This brings me to question - how many devs are actually working on DB? If there’s lead designer and about 10 other people, they’ll never get DB out of beta.

Welcome back Merciless good to see you’ve came back to the same stupid gaff that was around since dinosaurs roamed the Earth and nothing’s really changed since then.
Thanks.

@JohnS Yeah it looks like they have like 5 developers working on the game and one lead designer that just bathes in a massive dead sea amount of salt all day. Which is probably the reason why you guys are kept in the dark so bad because they’re ashamed of releasing info along the lines of “Well… today we’re here to announce that we are currently working on adding a bandaid on Vassili’s finger? Okay? Um… Bye. See you next week.”. That one dev that’s working on content. The 4 others are working on events and tactics to screw people.

Excuse me they added a chicken trinket which you will eat and be thankful for

I’m not even sure those 4 other people exist, otherwise surely they wouldn’t need to put the entire game’s forward development in terms of content and features on hold just to fix bugs, right? I think if they came up with a roadmap of some kind and shared that with the community or at least said what the next steps might be after the summer squash it’d be really good for everyone. I know what software dev is like and while the spirit of the summer squash is noble it’s always going to be 5 steps forward, n>0 steps back as things break or have knock on effects (like the execution c4 plant bug that we’ve now got yay).

I don’t know where I’m going with this line of thought really. Can you set one guy to finish dockyard? You’d make me a happy camper at least

edit: gotta reign in the blonk a bit

so yeah… Thanks Nexon and Splash Damage employees involved with the DB project and all the work you do. I would have listed every one’s name bu tI honestly don’t know them all.
