DBN Invite Cup #1 Details
A 20-team, two-stage event.

Stage 1
Stage 1 will consist of 4 groups of 4 teams each. During group stages, round-robin format will be utilized so that the groups play each other once for one point per map. Maps will be decided by elimination process.

Example

Team A vs Team B
“Team A Ban your map” Chapel
“Team B Ban your map” Terminal
“Team A Ban your map” Trainyard
“Team B Ban YOUR map” Underground
“You’re playing Bridge GLHF!”
“Team A Select Attack or Defend”

For international matchups we will utilize NA East or UK* servers. In this stage seeding will be determined manually and based on previous Dirty Bomb events.

*Optimal server will be NY east based. We will talk with Nexon/SD to provide location information.

Stage 2
Stage 2 will be a Bo3 single-elimination 8-team bracket. The top 4 teams from Stage 1 will progress into this bracket and meet with the 4 invited teams. The Bo3 stage allows teams to control their map choices. First pick is determined via coin flip, winner can defer. During this stage there will be a 3rd place decider matchup which will occur before the finals if time permits.

Example: Round 1 & 2

“Team A what is your map pick?” Underground
“Team B chooses side”
“Team B what is your map pick?” Terminal
“Team A chooses side”

Example: Round 3 – Tiebreaker

“3 maps left to ban out for tiebreaker map”
“What map does Team A want to ban” – Chapel
“What map does Team B want to ban” – Trainyard
“Ok, Bridge is tiebreaker map”
“Team A chooses side”

Team A has first pick, Team B has second pick.

Round 1

Team A plays their selected map (Underground)
Team B chooses side
Round 2

Team B plays their selected map (Terminal)
Team A chooses side
Round 3

Tiebreaker map is selected (Bridge)
Team A chooses side
**The tiebreaker advantage is technically a Team B perk, they select the final tiebreaker. Justifying Team A’s Side choice.

In-Game Rules
Maintain professional conduct between teams
Ensure that within 10 min all players are connected
Ensure friendly-fire is enabled
Ensure Stopwatch is enabled
Ensure team lineups are set before match start
Ensure clean representable names are utilized
Ensure admin/ref/captains are logged in as server admin for pausing*
One-of-each merc* rule is utilized (no duplicate mercs, e.g. double Skyhammer)

Logistics
Team captains must join us in Mumble at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the cup. Servers will be assigned and tracked by designated cup admins. Once an admin has assigned a server to a match, they will send those details to the team captains and follow them into that server for the duration of the match.

Substitutions
A team may utilize up to two subs in order to complete a match. A sub must be considered a qualified player. Qualified players are those who are not on an active team or staff for the duration of a tournament. Substitutions are subject to approval of the opposing team. A team may either accept or decline a substitution request, but once a substitution request is approved, they may not decline specific qualified players.

Max roster size will be limited 8 players per team.

Cheating
With cheating in Dirty Bomb we understand many players and teams concerns about those individuals who cheat or exploit in online matches. DBNation will be utilizing a new approach towards handling nefarious individuals. Our overview will revolve around these core principals:

Spectating
With DBNation we’ll be utilizing our refs and admins to spectate every matchup that we’re able to. This will be dependent on our total number of staff whether we’re able to cover every single game, but we’ll do our best to observe any matchup that teams request.

Investigating
Players will be required to submit their SteamID with a general investigation of each potential competitor. VAC bans on an account for less than 90 days will bar players from participating in DBNation events at this time. In the case of a person desiring to keep their profile private, they’ll need to request an administrator to conduct a review at a scheduled time.

Recording
DBNation will reserve the right to request players to record their game footage. While this is understandably difficult for some, it is an unfortunate requirement in some cases to confirm or deny potential exploiters. This ruling will be handled under a strict case-by-case basis.

Accountability
When it comes to making a team sometimes you never really know who you’re recruiting. We’re asking that teams be vigilant when it comes to creating rosters. While this is a touchy subject we will reserve the right to overturn matches, adjust results, and if needed ban teams for harboring or knowingly playing with a hacking individual. This rule will only be used in strict case-by-case scenarios.

Finally we want to say that it’s important as a community to build trust between each other. DBNation will do it’s best to help keep our competition fair, but it’s up to all of us to ensure that we have fun while trying to do so. If you suspect someone, inform an admin, and if you’ve been wrongly accused, speak to the staff. We’ll be overturning a few controversial DC bans from the past, while keeping others firmly in place. If any changes are made to our cheating policies we’ll be sure to clarify with additional news releases.

Casting
When it comes to casting DBNation will be happy to accept talent from individuals wishing to cover the glamor of DB’s action. While we’ll be cherry picking our matchups for Twitch/DBNation, there will still be plenty to go around. We’re inviting you the community to help cover our matches! If this interests you, please send us your Twitch channel and a brief description of your casting experience.

In Summary
Our first event will be the DBN Invite Cup #1: a 20-team, two-stage, invite-only event.
Register your team for the DBN Invite Cup #1 here.
Soon after our invite cup, we will hold the DBN Open Cup #1: format TBD but pre-registration is open.

Really glad to see this actually start up. I don’t know if I will be signing up yet, but good luck and I hope this becomes the competitive standard for Dirty Bomb in Dirty Cup’s absence!
