Doesn’t really fit this game honestly…I mean there’s so many things that you’d have to consider. Even without taking into account that iron sighting basically has no purpose, you’d also have to take into account the following.
-
First of all, each gun would need it’s own set of parts. One the things I didn’t like about Blacklight balance wise and artstyle wise, was that all the parts were interchangeable. Like a Sniper Rifle barrel on a freaking SMG.
-
There would need to be distinct roles and jobs for the guns to fill for it to work, and can’t let the customization rules allow the guns to overstep. For example, an Assault Rifle should be the king of midrange, but outside that, a Combat Rifle should beat it at long range, burst rifle should beat it up close, and the Shotgun and Sniper Rifles should be all about those one hit instant kills to be relevant. It’s a lot of variables.
-
Then of course, the parts themselves. What should you customize? Just 3 parts? Barrel, Reciever, and Stock? What about muzzles? Sights? Attachments like Grips, Extended Mags, etc.
There’s just way too much in there to consider, and I think Brink’s issue was it tried so hard to appeal to everyone that it ultimately satisified nobody.
If it were up to me, it’d prob be something like…
4 classes, Recon, Medic, Engineer, Soldier
Each class has it’s own set of abilities, gadgets, and some of them have weapon specific to them. Like the Sniper Rifle is only available to the Recon, and the Grenade Launcher is only available to the Soldier. Everyone can do things like repair objectives or Revive, but the Medic can revive almost instantly, AND heal you, and the Engineer can cut down time to repair objectives and even get certain resources available. Like a machine gun nest or a terminal turret to be set up in a specific spot.
Gun customization would be very careful to allow guns to be tailored for specific playstyles and builds. Like an Assault Rifle that’s low on damage but basically a bullet hose would be great for a speedy character, while another can be great for great recoil control and high damage per shot.
This sort of thing though would basically be a new game, it wouldn’t be Dirty Bomb anymore. So I can’t see them doing anything like this unless they start from scratch, sorry mate.
