Wondering is there any games that haven’t had bad user review/critics?
How can a game like Farcry 3 having a such difference in the user score
they giving from 0 to 10 !!??
That been said I just hope DB will have a score of = or > 8

Any sort of “media consumption” is always going to be 100% subjective, so I don’t think there’ll ever be only or all positive/negative reviews on anything media related. eg music, books, movies, games etc.
But yeah here’s hoping DB appeals to the majority of people who choose to review the game, since a lot of people live and die by reviews (which is a little silly but, their prerogative I guess).
So you could have not posted anything instead of bringing it to the top of “New posts”. Oh yeah, Rex’ opinion about what he does not care about at all or has no opinion about is so very important
From my point of view I judge many games by Let’s Plays or other Youtube content. I’d imagine competitive coverage of DB in a similar way to that of Shootmania would help sell it a lot better. If these things are solid and early then you can offset the high herp-de-derp user reviews and those from media outlets who have little time or expertise to give an accurate assessment.
That’s a good consolation thread for Locki, who feels that it’s only SD games that get the absolutely vocal and polar judgements from players
Metacritic user reviews are 10% - 90% trolling posts. The more popular the game the more trolling posts it gets.
People don’t rate a game where they think it should be. A lot of people will give a game 10 when they should be giving it a real score of 6-8, but they like it so TEN!!! A lot of people will give a game 0 when they should be giving it between 3-7 because someone just beat them in multiplayer or it arrived a day late or they don’t like the cover or the game doesn’t appeal to them.
I’ve even seen people claiming that they think the game is a 7/8 but they’re giving it 10 because the aggregated score is lower than where they think it should be. If you want an exercise in futility try explaining why this is beyond idiotic to the people that do it.
Factor in the recent phenomena of metacritic bombing: loads of zero votes suddenly appearing under loads of brand new accounts all in a short span of time, and you begin to realise that user reviews need to be taken with an ocean of salt.
Either read them for a laugh or sift through them like an archaeologist trying to find a seam of truth running through all the reviews. Or better yet: find a professional reviewer that has similar tastes to you and read their reviews. Even the “professional” reviews on metacritic have been known to troll for page hits (post a heavily negative score for a really popular game so that people will follow your link to see what you’ve been smoking… all publicity is good publicity right?).
Metacritic users are… special. You’re far better off making your own judgements about what floats your boat than trusting metacritic.
I never understood when reviewers give a game a ‘perfect’ score. To me, this implies that the game is devoid of any glitches, bugs, or any other technical issues, as well as perfectly balanced, having perfect level design, storyline, characters, sound, and everything else. The way my mind works, designing a “perfect” game is unachievable, and as such, I never give perfect scores. If a game gets a perfect score, and then a patch is released for the game, that in itself tells me that the game was not ‘perfect.’
A 10/10 to me means the game is the best or one of the best examples of a given genre for the time. Golden Eye will always be a 10/10, even though it looks balls today.
I agree with you. I used to look at 10/10 as an impossibility but I’ve changed my viewpoint a bit because of the following 2 things:
1 - The game can’t be perfect for everyone, but a review is subjective so maybe the game is perfect for that reviewer. IE: anything that would detract from a perfect score is something that reviewer doesn’t value at all.
and more importantly, 2- 10/10 doesn’t actually mean a perfect game. It’s a relative score to all other games around it. At the time that game received a 10/10 rating it was the pinnacle of gaming (subjective again of course… everything is coloured by the reviewer’s opinion).
Looking at it that way 10/10 is allowable even with minor glitches or small issues. And also allows for old games to be rated 10/10 even though they don’t age very well at all. Dune 2 was a 10/10 game for me even though it’s horrible to try play again now. Which is strange since RTS is a genre that no longer tingles my kiwis (and hasn’t for a long time).
