db matchmaking is a joke

(savvyTricycle) #1

I’m a competitive csgo player, i’m GE etc not that it matters at my level. I try to play the matchmaking in this fkn game and I just constantly get leavers. The penalties for leaving are a joke. I also think a lvl 5 minimum is a fkn joke as well. The cnts i get on my teams have absolutely no brain attached to them and i’m even surprised they are human (and as a result -> get rekt by other team -> have cry -> leave game). I’m sick of encountering players who just leave the game after 2 mins and i’m stuck wasting my time until I can leave. Fix your fkn shit nexon and nek these players out of matchmaking

dont use it. use server browsing. Welcome to PC gaming

dirtycups.gg for matchmaking.

Welcome to PC gaming 10 years ago maybe. Matchmaking is the standard now, and while ever the servers are randomly numbered SD ones and not community hosted ones, a server list is just a pain.

Being able to click a button and get into an equal skilled 5v5 competitive match is far more fun than jumping into uneven stacked teams of random skilled players for a lot of people, myself included.

Oi, server browsers are awesome.

(RuleofBooKz) #6

yes. yes they are

(avidCow) #7

MM with lvl5 players. Rubbish system.

Min level 10 servers are a better alternative, right now, until they fix MM.
If only more people were playing on them.

Honestly if you communicate the same way with your team I’m not too surprised that they leave you.

I do kinda agree that leaving is a big problem with ranked, the gamemode needs to communicate what you are getting into better (roughly 40 minutes time commitment, explaining that stopwatch is not finished after one side) and punish leavers harder (1000 credit penalty, time ban on all gamemodes).

Also server dropping players needs to be looked at had a game recently that was technically a 3 vs 6 because two guys kept disconnecting (they rejoined everytime tho so kudos to them).

I don’t like the Idea to raise the bar on ranked tho. While yes the min. lvl 10 servers are a nice change of pace, I give you that.
Restricting players from the way the game should be played (5 vs 5, overall slower pace, focus on the objective, balanced teams and hopefully ff on one day) for several weeks maybe month if they don’t grind hard, sounds stupid.
Besides I would wager that a lvl 5 player that keeps on playing ranked (i.e. doesn’t leave) will become a overall better player way faster then someone who grinds to lvl. 10 in 8 vs 8 objective mode.
Only problem I see is that there are too many new players compared to old ones (which is a good thing overall) and that the ranking isn’t sorting fast enough. Resulting in too many unbalanced matches, but I think they are working on it.

problems with matchmaking all stem from unbalanced teams. Bronze&silver are matched against a gold-premade.

Unlike most other games, being on the weaker team feels much nastier than in e.g. CSGO, you get repeatedly destroyed by multiple enemies, over and over, for 15min. Hence, the first 3-4 min are usually enough to determine whether you can hope to win the game, and people leave if they don’t think so

There should be a forfeit option, this would help a lot in those kind of matches. Even if the system was better, those matches will always happen, just more rarely.

The fact that this game is F2P should be enough to tell you the devs/publishers aren’t serious about competitive play (unless it is structured).

That vast bulk of the player base are so bad I suspect that many of them are kids playing on bottom end PCs.

Although I am not a fan of penalties for leaving, I think in this case having it extended to an hour or two would do the game a world of good. At the very least the ones who are nowhere near good enough to be playing in competitive matches would be effectively barred from dragging down teams of people who do take it seriously and want to win. I am of the opinion that bad players shouldn’t even be allowed in competitive matches until they improve. Having it open to any player is asking for trouble.

Also it would be a very strong deterrent to the better players that leave when they know they are probably going to lose, at least if they have to stay and tough it out, they and their team mates may well improve their teamwork and skills for the next match.

Saying that though, it would be a huge problem for people that encounter hackers, so that would need to be fixed first.

Damn, I knew those MOBAs were all casual and non-serious.

The skill floor between the two is very different, and so is the pace of the matches. Although your point is well made.

Saying that, I don’t play MOBAs, so I am not in a position to comment on their competitive structure. I have no idea how well it works.

Hes right. But often I only see 2 min level 10 servers in EU, sometimes 3. And often they are full and you have to pick one and select Auto-Join because the quickjoin feature does not factor in your account level until the 4th or 5th server it picks.

These scrubs leaving in competitive… man oh man…
