Hello pls,
Mi nams gst800 and since potty200 has no time for the next cup, im willing to host it as soon as servers are fixed.
Atm no ui fix date so what we can do is gather signups and when ui fix comes out find out most suitable date for majority, also can work on the rules for upcoming couple days.
Whats certain tho:
No 3 merc / whole tourney rule (more potential map specific metas).
register on tourney.cc, create your own team, sign this team on cup page.
I really want this to happen as im quite excited to watch some proper comp matches, if theres anyone willing to help me anyhow - just add me in steam and lets make this happen.
GJ on taking the initiative. Instead of asking for teams to sign up again, though, I think it would be better to contact the teams who are already signed up for the evac tourney and ask if they’re willing to play next Sunday (since this is a replacement). The brackets are already completed, so replacing any dropouts should be simple enough.
I am contacting everyone i can find, but let me get this clear, i dont want to continue from exact point where potty left. I dont like rules from that tourney (merc limited for whole tourney for example), i dont like that servers are eu only even for situations when us teams play among eachother. Another thing i dont want to deal with is random seeding that put couple top teams in one side of bracket while other got a basicly free way till finals. Nor do i see a need in limiting amount of participants. Not to mention hubris removal and thinking on how to place them into the bracket after that.
Ill just go from scratch in almost everything except for teams which signed up for potty cup - i want to attract as much as possible participants from that cancelled cup and let them play.
Fair enough, I take it this is an entirely new cup then, rather than a continuation of the evac cup.
As for random seedings, I’m not so sure the alternative is that much better. Given that all we have to go on is a fairly limited amount of scrims between some of the teams, manually seeding the teams right now is going to be pretty inaccurate.
If you want to do more than 16 teams, it’s going to be very difficult to complete the tournament in one day.
The more the merrier. Especially with ranked matchmaking in its infancy, it would be fantastic if we could get regular (perhaps even weekly!) tournaments going. But first of all, good luck and let’s hope nothing else gets in the way this time.

well i played every single team except wings from evaczone tourney and i think i have an idea of who is like strong and whos not as strong. Manually seeding right now is the only way because if you randomly seed 90% of the time 2/3 of top teams will eliminate eachother in one part of bracket while remaining 1/3 will have boring easy way till the top and whole tourney would be boring to watch / play. I dont want to give exact ratings out of my head to everyone, but atleast knowing who is like strongest right now from scrims i can give same slightly higher seeding rating to estimated top teams just so they dont end up all in same part of bracket and dont play eachother in the first round, rest would be manually seeded. I think that is the best option right now. Im not part of any team if you worry about that, i am also open to anyone who want to help me admin (enter results on website etc), if theres anyone else willing to help - they can also check the way i seed teams later and confirm its not biased towards any particular team.
What’s your take on the server locations going to be? All forced EU like the previous cup or switching between NA and EU depending on who plays vs who. The latter being I can 100% guarantee you that you will have conflicts in matches of NA vs EU. Fact that a team got removed for the rage about servers even after it was known that they would be EU only says enough about how people tend to ‘express their opinion’ on when they can’t play on their side of the pond.
Inb4: ‘we will do 1 map on EU and 1 map on NA’ goodluck with limited servers and goodluck with deciding for decider maps in BO3.
My take on servers locations is to have half or maybe slightly more eu servers (simply because there are more eu teams at the moment), and remaining ones to be us east just incase its a us west team vs euro or usa vs usa situation. I let missmurder know about my take on that, hopefully they find it reasonable. When i volunteered to make something happen i didnt think about just taking potty tourney and do it for him, i was planning to make a cup not limited to eu, not limited to certain number of teams and not having some rules that evaczone forced. I have different take on teams expressing their opinion aswell as i would actually listen instead of removing a potential top3 team from a close beta tourney, regardless of my personal good/bad feelings towards em, but thats just me.
About teams potentially playing 1 map on eu server and one on us, that wouldnt happen as it would be an organizing hell and all teams present in the game, from what ive seen, are reasonable people and should be able to understand thats just not possible scenario with limited amount of servers. No ofcourse someone will have lower/higher ping then the enemy, even if its eu vs eu or usa vs usa, its just how internet connection works right now, but the question here is if its playable as a game if ping is lets say 100 and does it give that huge of an advantage that makes games too unfair if its +50 ping from the enemy? in my experience playing unreal engine games in the past, and playing quite some dirty bomb now - no its not that big of a deal especially considering the fact that 99.9% of things you are using to kill people in this game are hitscan. I play on both 50 and 150 ping alot in this game atm and honestly dont notice that big of a deal playing 150. So yeah us east servers for usa vs usa or usa vs eu IF eu pings are not too big (way over 150). Another thing about deciding where to play, there shouldnt be much room for arguing in rules about that so it shouldnt be up to TEAMS to decide where they want to play, because eventually that will lead to situation where one team doesnt want to do what other team wants and they argue and all that drama creates more drama, and next thing you know - instead of playing the game on slightly higher ping then usual but making it more fair for enemy, you are arguing over it and just wasting everyones time. So yeah rules im working on right now shouldnt give much room for arguing about server to play as im pretty much gonna force it, but i just dont get that fuss really because good teams can make everything work on 50 and on 150 in this game. Its not like we are playing for million bucks here anyways so lets try to have as much fun as we can watching/playing whenever we can, pubs are becoming so boring its unplayable for me personally.
I suggest that you poll the teams whether they want US or EU preference. You can’t really have it both ways, and deciding on a case by case basis sounds like an organisational trainwreck waiting to happen.
If you make US East the first choice for US vs. EU matches, you essentially change the tournament region from EU to NA. At least make sure that the teams are okay with that.
My experience is that teams will fight over rules like it was a million dollar tournament even when there isn’t a single prize on the line. As adeto commented above, hubris’ removal from the evac cup was an indirect consequence of a dispute over servers.
I’ve also played against most of the teams who signed up for the evac cup, and have a reasonable idea of their relative skill, but notgood enough to set reliable and fair seedings for everyone. One alternative is to use seeding groups (cf. the way seedings are done for football world championships) with random selection of teams from each seeding group to that group’s assigned positions in the brackets (ensuring that teams from the highest seeding group will meet teams from the lowest seeding group in the first match). This is still not a perfect solution, since I guarantee you that there will be disagreements over which team should go into which seeding group. For example, let’s say that there are 16 teams in the cup, with 3 seeding groups. 3 of the 4 seeds in seeding group 1 are obvious. But who gets the fourth? There is no fair solution when for example 2 of the remaining teams are equally matched, and then you get complaints about admin bias and whatnot when a decision is made. Random selection avoids that issue by removing the admin from the decision. A workaround would be double elimination, but that doubles the timeframe for the tournament.

Having a rule that says EU vs. EU on EU servers and NA vs. NA on NA servers, or a rule that says that the teams can agree to play on a different server than the default, is perfectly fine. Otherwise agree.
I think you have to take a stance on whether this primarily an EU (EU server is default), NA (NA server is default) or neutral (one team decides server location, other team decides map – a coinflip decides which team picks what (if two maps, one map each serv, coinflip solution if tiebreak needed)) tournament.
Knowing servers are up can only start gathering teams from now on, if you can kindly enable those servers, should be able to gether all avaliable teams for next weekend.
Atm asking team captains about exact time.
