Darji (first playable) is out!

(Loffy) #1

Hi!

Darji (first playable) is out: http://www.pcgamemods.com/5245/

Darji is a capture-the-flag map. It has 2 bases: One Axis and one Allied. The bases are identical, with each having 7 flags and a goal-zone. The goal-zone is a truck.

The objective for you and your team-members is simple: Run into the enemies base, steal one of their flags and bring it all the way back home to your goal-zone.
Place it in your goal-zone by jumping into the Truck whilst holding the flag. Your team will get 1 point for each enemy flag it places into your truck.
It is only possible to steal one enemy flag at a time. You and your team-members cannot steal 2 or more at the same time.
Furthermore your truck will become “invisible whenever the enemy steals one of your flags, which means you cannot score points as long as the enemy has one of your flags.
The team which has captured the most flags, when the time limit is hit, wins the game. The game is a draw if the score is equal (0-0, 1-1 etc.) at full time.
If a team captures all 7 flags, before the time limit is hit, the game will stop and that team becomes the winner.

This map is based on an old UT-map called Darji Outpost 16-A, released by Epic.

Enjoy!

Pretty nifty Loffy! I like that!

I have that tree pack you’re using and you should darken their TGA because they look too bright. If you want I can zip mine and send them to ya.

Keep it up!

(Loffy) #3

Oh, that would be perfect! Here I am: loffyswe [at] yahoo.se
Thanks MJ!

(MadJack) #4

Sent  Tell me if it’s what you’re looking for.

(Loffy) #5

MadJack, it worked just fine - thanks!

\o/

Big difference!

hmmmm I think I’ll post that liveoak.tga on my site…

EDIT: The file liveoak_madjack.zip has been posted on my site if anyone wants it.

(Ifurita) #7

nice idea - I’m working on a CTF-type map too - I might just steal some of your ideas.

(DG) #8

mmm multi-ctf with a few twists, interesting

ps. what sthe intended teamsize?

(Loffy) #9

Hi!
I’ll try to make and release a prefab too, with script and all entities.
This map is for large servers with lots of people playing. I’ve disabled field-op, to stop air-strike spamming. (there is a huge “clip weapon” that covers the sky, which makes the use of air-strikes (and mortars) impossible.)

(Ifurita) #10

Funny, I’m making an all indoor map.

(LaggingTom) #11

Just put a piece of cheese in the map… for me.

(MadJack) #12

Loffy, afaics you don’t use rain or environment so why not remove that clip and delete the tracemap instead? I would be pissed if I’d throw a nade to see it dissappear in the sky. No tracemap = no Airstrike/Artiliry and no mortar…

(Loffy) #13

Ah, I’ll try that! If it works (which it probably does), I’ll have it in the next version.
I will also do a full light compile, to get better shadows.

(Im listening to Niel Young atm. Im pretty sure he signs "Keep on MAPPING in the free world.)

(Java.Lang) #14

You could also just remove the “sky” surfaceparm within the sky shader. That too should disable airstrikes.

(Loffy) #15

Thx for the idea! Will try it.
The map is running atm, at 213.112.91.113:27960.

Looks good Loffy, hope to get a game soon!

Thanks Errol. It’s on the “To Buy” list right after replacing my TNT2.

Hi
The map crashed the server over at Shit-Storm yesterday. I think it has something to do with the spawn-points (team_ctf_redspawn and team_ctf_bluespawn). I have 60 for each team. First 20 have scriptname X, next 20 have the scriptname Y and the last 20 are named Z. All X:s are close to the home-base. The Z:s are far away from the base. The Y:s are somewhere inbetween the X:s and Z:s.
When a team scores the first “goal”, all their X:s are removed. (command remove X in script). Second goal will remove all Y:s. (The idea is to make it harder to defend the base.)
The Z:s are never removed.
There is 1 yellow blob (team_wolf_objective) for each team.
Every team-ctf-redpspawn and -bluespawn is set “invulnerable 1” and “startactive 1”.
I think it was this remove X and Y-scripting that created the crash. My “proof” is the fact that the game stalled when a team scored. And the fact that the map works on smaller servers. The Shit-Storm servers have 20-25 players on each side. Ergo it must be the spawn. Or?

Is it insane to have a total of 60 team-ctf-redspawn (-bluespawn) for each team?

(mental note for loffy: make simple map next time.)

Wish my college teachers mapped, we’d have something to talk about

Love your map m8 its original has attention to detail and is fun to play  its just not suited to large servers maybe, i expect the problem will get sorted one way or another, dont panic lol.
When i win the lottery you can come and work for me for sure :drink:
