Why would anyone use Direct2Drive just buy the god damn game and put it on your Shelf like a normal person
It’s through Steam anyway so D2D’s appeal is really just the price.
I don’t like putting a game on my shelf. That means that I have to put a DVD in the drive everytime I wanna play a game. I buy through Steam so they all are accessible at any time without DRM pissing me off. I don’t want to have to put on a dodgey hacked exe file just so that I can play a game without needing my DVD in the drive.
But Brink REQUIRES Steam so therefore it’s going to be a Steam game anyway. Which means as soon as the first update comes out my DVD is useless and I’d simply backup the Steam files to a portable hard drive anyway. I then don’t have to have 200 boxes cluttering up my shelves - I just have one portable hard drive

Many people actually prefer digital copies of things now. I agree its nice to own a physical copy sometimes but seen as Brink will be tied to your Steam account anyway digital download seems a good option.
You are also guaranteed to get it on release day and its cheaper than the physical copy by a couple of quid
no.
but whatever…I’ll wait til the game is out to see if it’s actually worth to get

What are you, Glued to your Chair ?
No but it’s a pointless thing. “Ooo a pretty case that I’m more than likely going to throw away anyway.” Games almost never come with manuals anymore and that is the only appeal to a hardcopy game for me.
I am not sure you can criticise someone for making a personal choice. To be honest all games will eventually end up digital so you may as well start getting used to it
Internet Rule #??:
You can criticize anything. Even without justification. See my signature for more details.
Could I grab it from here, and then use activate it on Steam and download it, play it, patch it all through Steam?
Yeah, they just give you a code to put into steam D2D doesnt handle any downloading for Brink
Because services like Steam are superior to having the box. It was also normal to ride in wagons for transportation back in the day. Also remember that if your box copy is lost or stolen the company has no legal binding to support you after that. So your only bet depending on the copy protection is to download the ISO by any means and using a nocd patch. Either way you no longer have the ability to use multiplayer correctly in most instances. This obviously doesn’t apply to every game.
tldr
If you have the connection speed to back it up and you can download 8 gigs in an hour or less then digital purchases are far superior to having the boxed copy on your shelf.
PC Gamers don’t do that anymore.
I have 70 games installed on my hard drive, I haven’t used a disc for a long time.
Actually you can preload Steamworks games from D2D. It’s basically just downloading the DVD to your hard drive.
I dunno where u live at, but if u really wanna get deals online what you can do is buy a visa “gift card” and you can like buy 50$ ones, 40$ ones, 10$ there are a bunch. Theres even cards out at gas stations, where u buy it once (like the gift card) and you put as much money on it as u want. Then when it runs out, you can either go to a gas station or the store u bought the card from and tell the cashier you want like $41.50 on it? And they will put that amount on, go home, buy it! I’ve done it many of times, eBay, World of Warcraft, Xbox live points, anything bascially.

Ah I wasnt aware of that, as it says 3rd Party download required on the Brink page I just assumed it would all be handled by Steam.
We also have the pre-load credit cards here in the UK

No probs, just to highlight anyone wanting to buy at this price must do so before the day is out from my understanding
