Customize your character and a 1st person view

(twenty2) #1

Im just curious what everyone thinks of being able to customize your character so much but then its a 1st person shooter so you never see your character? only when you are customizing and maybe when you die it will show your body face down ? lol

I kind of wish this game was going to be 3rd person i think it makes everything a lot cooler and you can see your guy lol

I don’t see the big deal. Yeah, it would be cool to see yourself in 3rd person, but the overall game would be better in first person. Besides, you can see yourself practically on every screen, when you are not in-game.

Third person controls/gameplay is exceptionally clunky to use and look at. FPS is way more immersive and entertaining and easy to play.
The customisation, as been said so many times now, is for other people to see you. You’re creating an extension of yourself - whether that be identically (kinda) or artistically.

other people see it… you see it in multiple parts of the game… there is a perk to see in third person at objectives… plus, other people see your character anyway, and if you’re really narcissistic, you could watch yourself in third person in a replay (i assume). no biggie, really.

Never understimate how narcisstic people can be. If you don’t care about tatoos, spend xp on weapon upgrades.

Each map in Brink will have bathrooms with big mirrors so you can admire ‘yourself’
whenever you feel the need. Also, one of the perks you can buy with your xp is
a pocket mirror. 3rd person would be awful.

I just dont see the point I will hardly see my character I guess so I might as well be a naked guy? imho this game is not going be as great as people say its going to feel way too newbie/halo style I bet

Being able to see yourself would instantly make the game pro of course.

There will be some 3rd person views:

the “sense of perspective” perk that puts the game in third-person while you are hacking a terminal but locks your movement as the trade-off.

Always looking at your characters ass! no way!
If you wanna see yourself stay in the customisation menu and look pretty.:stroggbanana::stroggbanana::stroggbanana:

If you want to look at yourself there’s this beautiful game called The Sims. It’s an online game, of course you’re trying to look as bad-ass as possible for other players. You don’t see yourself while playing but I’m pretty sure you see yourself at any other moments, which is enough. If you think the game is not going to be great because you can’t see your character all the time you should change your perspective towards the game.

I find it really frustrating that people then FPS shouldn’t have custom characters like wtf… I think it’s freaking awesome to customize my guy why would you want to look like everyone else? I hate it especially when you don’t care for any of the models to chose from.

OP:

If you really want to get aroused watching yourself, demo your matches and watch the replay in 3rd person view.

Typically in past games, players distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack, via skill level.
So much so, that when these players use multiple aliases, people can still recognize who they are.
However because high skill players are a rather small % of a game’s playerbase - customization, is the next best thing. It allows players to be proud of “their guy” even though “their guy” is terrible at the game.

Aren’t people more looking at their character rather than themselves in a third person shooter?

(Seyu) #18

For the same reason that people spend buttloads of money on cosmetic surgery, designer clothes and what not, even though they can’t see themselves except when in front of a mirror, in real life.

(SnipingPenguin) #19

Believe it or not, but I’ve got this crazy skill most people know as “turning your neck”. It allows you to look at your clothes even when you’re wearing them.

mabye u can do 3rd person and 1st person? but i think that 1st person is cooler so that u can see the custom weapons
