Custom Texture Folder not visible

hello i have a problem with Doom3 & Quake4 installation. when i open the media folder in the editor i cant see my self created custom texture folder. It seems like the editor doesnt read out the unpacked q4base at all. I can even remove all the pk4´s and the editor still finds all standard textures. it doesnt make a difference if i unpack the pk4´s or not. :?
can someone help me plz i searched the internet for hours and i found tons of threads and tutorials on how to set up custom textures but all asume that the editor finds the custom texture folder created. :?

If you just felt a little quake shakin the internet IT WAS ME :expressionless:

i didnt know you gotta have a .mtr file pointing to the folder you want to pack your textures in. i made a test texture and a test .mtr and BOOOOOOOM there is my texture folder in the media tab.
maybe this is not the best way to solve this.

btw is it normal that i cant edit the project settings in QuakeEdit. In DoomEdit it was possible.

I have been having the same problem. After searching for hours as well, I came across this post. Unfortunately I haven’t a clue what to do with the si_pure command. Do input it into the console? I tried that, but no luck… The wiki is only useful to someone who has a basic understanding of the matter.

Yup, the pure command is a cvar


It can be used to tell the game that we want to enable cheats, like God mode, third-person-view etc.

As mappers, we often have to enable cheats to load our maps. We follow the following basic outline:
a) make map, b) compile it, put it in the right folder, c) start the game (Enemy Territory, Q4 or whatever), drop down console, type in some cvars that tell the game that we want to enable cheats and that we want to load our map.

Then, when the map is finished and we want to share it with others, we put all necessary files together in a pk3 (or pk4) file, which is distributed. When gamers download and load that file, they do not have to enter those cvars. Just play and enjoy.

yes all true. but the “+si_pure 0” command didnt solve the problem.

i had to create a folder called “materials” for the .mtr file wich contains the shader and path for the texture.

on my harddrive it looks like this

C:\D3_Edit\Doom 3\base	extures\mytex

the folder with the texture

C:\D3_Edit\Doom 3\base\materials

the folder with the shader file


textures/mytex/mytex_mauer_01
{
qer_editorimage	        textures/mytex/mytex_mauer_01.tga
bumpmap			  textures/mytex/mytex_mauer_01_bump.tga

Heh, my problem was that I was saving the .mtr as a .shader.

I am missing a texture in my mod. called exexplo03, which is present in particlesystem as a texture. In the art folder there are many .DDS files as exexplo04 etc, but no exexplo03?
I have checked a lot of mods and the original BIG file in ZH for the texture, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Does anyone know where I can get the texture.
