I am having trouble inserting custom models to my maps i can insert the model but need to learn how to add the texture to the model i insert,
I got the models from blackrayne studio, who has done some great models, they come with the md3, a jpg or 3 and a qc file now i realise that the qc file isnt right for WET, all help appreciated
custom models
gtkradient 1.4 says
vfsExtractRelativePath: C:/Program Files/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain/models/br_minicooper/br_cooper5.md3
cleaned path: c:/program files/wolfenstein - enemy territory/etmain/models/br_minicooper/br_cooper5.md3
Matching against c:/program files/wolfenstein - enemy territory//etmain
vfsExtractRelativePath: failed
trying with a short version
vfsExtractRelativePath: C:/Program Files/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain/models/br_minicooper/br_cooper5.md3
cleaned path: c:/progra~1/wolfen~1/etmain/models/br_min~1/brf718~1.md3
Matching against c:/program files/wolfenstein - enemy territory//etmain
vfsExtractRelativePath: failed

As far as I know qc is used to assign the textures to the model when exporting it as md3. So I highly doubt that’s the cause.
But I have no idea what is causing your problems.
As far as I remember there’s a bug in GTKRadiant.
You vae to edit the path to the model.
It should be something like “/models/br_minicooper/br_cooper5.md3”
You should search the forums.
It might be that “/” or “/models” also have to be removed from the path.
The qc file is only used to export a model from milkshape.

There’s a tutorial linked in a sticky thread about this:

done that mateos mate that bits working great
i think/hope you have checked some tutorials about mapping and other stuff…
so you know the model usually stored in
models/mapobjects/[modelpath]/[model]+[texture]
ok.
now you have create/copy your models+textures to this folder
then you should download this tool:
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17677&highlight=model+tool&page=6
[actual link on last page]
then open your model and go to the tab surface
then you can edit the texture path to the one you copied the model+texture
finally go to file -> save as and save your model
then import it in the radiant.
thats it - your model should work now
if you want special effects on your texture - don t forget to add a shader for this…
