Scrupus, some of the lights on consite b2 seens different on the Nivana server. I made, bellow, a comparison between the Nirvana Server and a ETQWPro dedicated server i created in my machine:

I found that all the lights that use the “Key Card” texture are not working on the Nirvana server. You know why?

I guess it’s not the Nirvana to blame. While watching demos I found that sometimes such lighting gets loaded and sometimes not. It’s random. Try to reconnect to Nirvana 10-15 times and compare the results.

What concerns demos and randomly working lighting, this is IMHO a covert ETQW bug. It could be videocard as well, but I remember this happening even with my previous videocard.

The best thing to check this is load up demos from Andes. You spawn as an observer not far from the famous sex temple and fly into it. If the orange carpet (on which we had hawt seks with Chris) is properly lit - then it’s ok, but most often the carpet would have dull brownish color - that’s when the lighting wasn’t properly loaded.

Just as a suggestion…

BTW, today no footbawl, so let’s have a Nirvana partey on new Consite!! :smiley: Yeaaaaah!

I see some warnings when map is loading, “could not load lights/key_card” and “lights/grate6”, that’s probably why :slight_smile:

Server is now running with “net_serverSnapshotDelay 1”, which will send snapshots to clients more often, hopefully increasing net performance a bit. As a sideeffect all players will show up with ping 0 - this is a visual bug so just ignore it.

This problem is since B1. I played B1 in other servers and this not happens.

This is a content the game have itself. May be the server file was bypassed by a similar in any of the custom packs, but without those lights.

Not blaming anyone, just trying to fix that.

Ashog, this is not random, its always, since B1.

There are two Nirvana maps that have inside its PAK the file “materials/lights.mtr”. This is a file from the SDK. The maps are Free Spirit City B3 and its Pro version.

I made a Nirvana server here, in my machine, with your last campaign file.

It had the light problem on consite, like on the real Nirvana.

Then i removed those two maps from the campaign file and removed their files from the server. Lights worked ok in consite.

hmm, maybe iwound modified that file in his maps. Something he should probably fix, but since it’s unlikely those maps will ever be updated I suggest you make new material files for those missing lights in consite, that should fix it.

a quick check shows the file as un-modified and is just the mtr from the sdk. i included it so as to fix a lights issue i had iirc with a flashing light. it maybe different than what is in the base pk4s. use your own unique names in your light material declarations. or scrup could delete those maps off the server. no one plays custom anymore anyway.

That didn’t go too well last night :frowning:
My internet connection was very unstable, I disconnected every 5 minutes after which I needed the 2 client restarts and the accompanying 12 errors every time.
I gave up pretty quickly. Tried some TF2 after that but that was even worse, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be playing any multiplayer games anytime soon :(:frowning:

Don’t be silly. Delete FSC from server?

People barelly noticed the missing lights, and if the city on consite is abandoned, we can expect a University with none or few (squarelight) lights :slight_smile:

We will fix that creating a lights_consite.mtr file with the lights we use.

I was saying that the demo lighting glitch was random, but I wasn’t sure if your map has the same problem - was only a suggestion :slight_smile:

Glad that the problem is solved easier than if it were the same problem as in demos.

I was spamming you teh whole evening with invites to Nirvana, while you resisted them by staying at pubs :smiley:

We already had 6x6 yesterday so noone playing is highly overestimated :wink: Plus it’s world cup and summer time, so less players overall. Nirvana won’t die at least until Brink, or possibly even longer, so… :armadillochase:

Nice games yesterday btw. Interesting Consite games, the map is much much better. Still though, quite a lot of running for Strogg on the last stage. One hog isn’t enough imho. Epic Cyclops though :goliathspin:

As always epic Meltdown - map again won 20 seconds before Timeend fail.

Oh and final hoggin was simply epic! E.g. we collided fullspeed frontally with Hexen Terzo which brought both hogs surprisingly to a standstill followed by an explosion :slight_smile: Nevar seen anything like that :hog:
