For reasons best known to MS / SD I have at least four folders for QW with apparently RANDOM sets of files in each -

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars
Contains pk4s including custom ones. -
C:\Users[username]\Documents\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars
Things tend to autodownload to here or the folder above… -
J:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars
Doesn’t have any pk4s but seems to contain profile data
(note Administrator isn’t my profile :o)
and finally…

where I actually installed the damn thing This contains the pure pk4s that come with the install.
hehe Nirvana is nice and easy, just connect and it downloads the stuff you need and you don’t need to worry about where it goes.
Violator. I believe number tree is a remain from Windows XP. Windows 7 dont have this folder.
The other 3 are ok. Their name are, i believe:

- The SavePath; downloaded content and run files

- The UserPath; screenshots and demos

- The GamePath; the untouched oiriginal game
I mounted a online server to run Glory and find, in loco, the cause of the slow down it have.
The optimized shadows was causing the slow down.
You guys, who reported slowdown on Glory, was using shadows on or off?
Remarks:
On some Nirvanas i got slowdowns in many maps, so this can be not all the stuff revealed, but its a begining

Violator, since Estate 2 is relatively small, it had the chance to have been compiled with optimized shadows. It is compiled with optmized shadows? If yes, i will make some tests in it.

I am worried about the freezes of Nirvana server in general when starting maps - upon each map change for me is a delay of ca. 5-10 seconds when everything is frozen, it hasn’t been like that several months ago. Scrupus, anyone, do you also have it?
Can it be it needs to preload big campaigns? Like a campaign with 10+ maps?

Its just compiled ‘Normal’.
I also get that 5-10 sec freeze on starting each map on Nirvana too.

I see it too, but I’m not sure if it’s something wrong - maybe it takes a bit longer with more maps. I don’t think it’s that different from before, but it’s more visible with some more seconds. Can’t think of any other changes that could affect this atm.
it is different. it started shaply happening approximately during the time when four recent maps started to get lots of updates (spring - summer?) - wake, glory and estates…
Anyone who had noticed slowdown on Glory remember if shadows was on or off?
Hmm, you know what? Don’t do anything. The lag is actually good, because with it I still manage to select a correct class after mindlessly teamkilling during the prematch Tapping changeclass during this lag works 100%
