Yes it is pretty fricking sweet heh!

I hope the ability to switch to grenade without auto cooking has still been retained, at least on PC
i.e. Grenade is just like any other weapon, you switch to it with a numerical key, then start cooking with mouse1 down and throw on mouse1 up

There seems to be a growing trend of the “dedicated nade with auto-cook” button
i.e. G down to auto-switch to grenade and start cooking, G up to throw and then auto-switch back to gun

I guess I’m just saying… please let me throw grenades with mouse1 and let me choose which weapon to equip

EDIT: Awesome song!

(coolstory) #3

damn nice…

(AskaCapper) #4

Will Brink be at PAX East anyone know?

(Nail) #5

good luck, and if other companies don’t comply, you’ve got Splash Damage covering your back

yes, SD will be at PAX East

I’m with you, they should at least give you the option (but it would mean a different gun animiation, where they show you with a nade in your hand so you know you have it equiped).

If they don’t do it though you can still script it.

(Wheelchairman) #7

what exactly is remapping? being able to pick what each button does?

im not a quad but i am a capper. but i was born with it, spinal muscular atrophy. sucks about u getting in the car wreck.

Me too but I don’t see how you could script it (if not implemented).

(Apples) #9

mmm DAUK came with a script that might work iirc.

Petition signed, still sick that not many companies think about disabled people, GL!

(DarkangelUK) #10

set nadearmed “bind G $nadedisarmed; bind mouse1 _weapon3; addchatline ‘Grenade Equipped’”
set nadedisarmed “bind G $nadearmed; bind mouse1 _attack; addchatline ‘Weapon Equipped’”
bind G $nadearmed

Or there abouts.

(Bullveyr) #11

Yea, right after I wrote that I realised how it could work.

Not as perfect as seeing the nade in your hand but it would do, I played W:ET and RtCW with cg_drawgun 1 for nades/equipment and 0 for SMG/Pistol.

PS: signed petition

Hi there Chuck,

Just wanted to say congratulations and thank you for highlighting this issue. Hopefully full custom control mapping will be standard throughout the industry. Nice work, Sir.

Hopefully see you at PAX East : )

The industry has started listening… I love SD guys comments in this video

Remapping makes sense.

What are some road blocks to remapping? & was it very hard to implement RMing in Brink?

(Maawdawg) #14

Signed as well, and passed around. Hopefully more companies and devs take notice of this issue. Best of luck continuing your effort at PAX East.

(mortis) #15

This is an issue that I had not previously considered, but customization has always been for the win, anyway. I hadn’t really considered the implications for the disabled, but it’s pretty cool that in spite of the challenges of quadriplegia, you will be able to frag me just like everyone else. GJ, Splash Damage, for continuously challenging the gaming industry to change into something better, be it platforms, gameplay or customization…

I’d love to do a QA @Pax with one of the splash damage crew…? who when? hook a CAPper up.

(Maawdawg) #17

Here is the thread on PAX, they will definitely be there. I know I will be hitting the booth ASAP on Saturday to get a look at the game if I can. I would PM badman or the other devs to see if you could arrange something with whoever may be there.

Hey Chuck! I’m glad you took a look at video interview with Ed Stern about Brink’s remapping feature!

It’s notable that for Splash Damage’s 1st game on ps3 and xbox will feature a characteristic that should always have been in any console game. Not just for the sake of handicapped players but also to eliminate any interface fault on any controller for whatever gamer simply because we should feel right about what are each person necessities.

Some players knife more, others jump more or spam cooked grenades too often. We all need the buttons we use more closer to where we feel we are faster to press them, and this applies to any gamer!

I’ve no clue how hard is to implement the controls remapping feature. Perhaps that’s a good question for the interview at pax2011

Would be awesome hear your questions and answers from a Brink developer. To arrange the interview send an email to them, this seems to be the correct one: press@splashdamage.com

Good Luck

:stroggtapir:

I hope someone @ slash damage sees this because my many supporters are going to love this! I will hit up their email. thanks boys & girl (you know there is only one!)

(3Suns) #20

Capper, they have already seen it! (Just scroll up - Senior Game Designer Bongoboy replied!)

To SD, this is fantastic news! Thank you! This really SHOULD be the case for ALL console games, not just Brink!

Cheers!
