Getting from level 1 to 8/9 is a rather rapid process, so much so that the rewards granted in that time frame are very time efficient (as they should be). The problem here-in lies that the 30/35k credits and free gold loadout given to players decrease the overall market value of all loadouts if a trading system is implemented. This isn’t so much of a problem on its own, but if trading is allowed for lower level accounts then it will always be more time efficent to create a new account, farm up your free credits (and buy bronze loadouts or equipment cases) and gold loadout, and trade these away to your main account for crafting or trade/sell them outright. Even if made un-tradeable it still has potential for abuse in that it can extremely expedite the cobalt crafting process on the low level account if they can purchase any other necessary components to craft up to a loadout that they can trade (particularly with the gold loadout) with little time actually invested. I sent a message to the support staff about this and they said they would be notifying the development staff of this concern, but really if it is not publicly made obvious I fear it could fly under the radar and, eventually, negatively impact the trading market.
Current low level rewards and potential for trading exploits.
If the trading system uses steam trading, the problem is mostly solved.
Accounts are locked unless they’ve spent $5 or more, can’t send or receive trades.
If the trading system doesn’t use steam, that will be cause for concern and possibly riots.
TF2 had the same problem…and you know what, I doubt it will be a problem here.
You’re talking about someone making a ton of accounts, just to level them up, use those credits, then buy cases and make cards. Now you could argue for a premium account, but that doesn’t exactly solve it either, spend 5 bucks and a little time for more cards? I’d probably do it.
But lately Steam has been upping their game, they’ve been forcing people who want to make trades to have a cell phone number for confirmations via steam app. It won’t be long before they require you have a cell number for trading and selling on the market, which most people have these days.
So, I say, this is an ok thing to talk about, but let’s be honest, it’s irrelevant right now. And by the time trading is finally added, it’ll be irrelevant then as well since it’s likely there will be plenty of measures in place to prevent this sort of thing.
An easy way to avoid this problem is to track the credits/rewards players earn. If the reward was earned before Level 8/9/10/whatever, it’s untradable.
You can also just create “new player credits” and have special or different deals on certain mercs for new player credit use. However, new player credits will be untradable. I don’t think this is necessary though, it should be easy enough to level lock trade-able items and credits.
@Equanimity Your thread is basically what I post in every “trading” Thread. Yes. You’re right. That’s why the basically have to either change the system we have now, or restrict the trading itself. And it will be pretty hard to do without fucking someone over.
This is one of the few problems that come with trading.
In my opinion I believe it just outright decreases the value of loadout cards and skins.
Knowing that you can get any if you just make X amount of credits and buy it off someone. The game loses it’s RNG mechanic.
Gold and cobalts will no longer feel exclusive or hard to get.

Almost so much so I’d rather not see trading at all… I’m on the fence about it, lol.
unlock trading at 15th lvl or by buying something.
there are lots of other options
Easy fix:
Replace the gold loadout card with a special edition “newbie” loadout card (name can be different) with Dirty Bomb logo all over the merc clothes and the gun for both Aura and Skyhammer, it will be the same for all players (no RNG) and will be untradable and unmarketable. Also all the current players will receive this card too so nobody is jealous of the noobs :3 And about people who already got a free gold card just make this card untradable, unmarketable and uncraftable (cannot be used to craft new loadouts)
As for credits, they can replace the 25,000 credits reward when you reach level 4 with an option to select a free merc of any kind once you reach level 7. Since you can’t trade mercs it won’t destroy the economy
I can see your point in making it untradeable and unmarketable but what’s the harm in making it craftable? You need 5 more gold cards to craft it into a cobalt. You get that by either spending money in the shop or properly playing the game for quite a while. Neither is gaming the system for cheap rewards.
Make the rewarded gold card only trade in-able so there will be no exploit in a 5 gold trade-uped cobalt.
And making it un-marketable.
I don’t know about a system like TF2, because I didn’t play it enough to have many items to send so I didn’t go premium.
But they must take care of it before eventually release trading.
Good thing player to player trading is not a thing, and this is a non-issue.
I either dont really see the fuss with trading. DB lacks any kind of “base” currency to “value” stuff with, and on top of that cosmetics and performance are tied together. Other games with Steam Trading tend to have currency and mainly cosmetics are being traded or the “market” is simply hugely larger with them (TF2, CS:GO, Dota,…).
I’d much more prefer simply having a system where garbage event skins and cobalts could be rerolled/changed as EVEN IF trading was a thing. You guys realise most probably nobody is still ever going to buy your CW Sparks 273 or ReV Phantom BL52 unless you accept 2 Leads or something. Or unless you find some1 noob enough to sell it off with good price which is then filthy scamming.
