Crouching and spread

(avidCow) #1

Is there any effect? It’s hard for me to see as my gfx are so poor I can’t see decals or fx properly.

Personally I think it should lower your spread and recoil because you’re sacrificing so much speed in a game that can be punishingly fast (think being rushed by 2 or more auras/proxies with shotguns)

I cant think of any reason to crouch in this game aside from planting/repairing. Losing momentum is too deadly.

There’s a reference in the recent release notes about crouching being beneficial, but it’s very vague.

I actually had to consciously stop myself from crouching so often because of a trained reaction from rtcw and ET. This game is just so much faster.

True, game’s fast as fawk. Engaging enemy while strafing is dangerous enough, doing this while crouched is ourtight suicidal.

Crouching should definitely reduce spread / recoil, as it is now its only good for throwing enemy aim off by dodging with it.

Crouching is good if you want to mess up people who are aiming for your head.

There have been several times when I’m in a close to mid range shootout when I just randomly crouch and avoid headshots.

You’d be amazed out how easily you can also avoid sniper headshots by just crouching.

This, most definitely. Though you have to be a few minutes in to know you’re facing a competent Vassili, else you’re likely to actually turn their rubbish body-shot into a free head-shot.

I wouldn’t call myself a good sniper, but I’ve had my moments and to be honest, crouching enemies would not very much bother me. You loose so much momentum when crouching, even if you evaded once, you are easier to hit afterwards. Strafing seems like much more effective strat against snipers. If I’m facing strafer, I’d often go for a body shot and MP finish.

Which is why I would only crouch if I know the Vassili is good. Otherwise simply strafing as the above user said would trip up most new or amateur Vassili’s.

However I good rule of thumb for me is that if I run around and see a Vassili I immediately crouch which works well.
