Crosshair / hud / cvars ???? still nothing ...

(BomBaKlaK) #1

So the DLC is here, finaly ! with some little stuff to do for some days ! i really dont know how many …

but where are the things we need since the begining ?
like Crosshair custom, cvars unlock, linux servers, and HUD custom …

We hear about a patch coming with the DLC and still nothing …

So ? can we have this little things one day ? or we wait for nothing ?

(Nexolate) #2

You said it yourself. Far more important things to be dealing with than minor customisation.

Regards,
Nexo

Tell this Question badman dude…

(AnthonyDa) #4

DLC = new content.

Patch = fixed issue.

What you are looking for isn’t a DLC, but a patch.

(and yeah, the dlc came with a fail-patch :stuck_out_tongue: )

It’s everyone’s favorite broken record, BomBaKlaK.

Did this need a new thread? It’s been brought up many times before already…

(BomBaKlaK) #6

still no awnser !! so I ask it again !

(Tom12121112) #7

i have custom hud for the 360, i dont know why you pc players dont have it…

(BomBaKlaK) #8

what kind of hud customisation do you have ?

(Zanchile) #9

hes yanking your chain

(Tom12121112) #10

i can make my crosshair either the standard circle shape or it can look like this:

Why do you need linux servers ? It runs fine on windows servers. Explain, in detail, what linux servers would give to the normal player logging in to a server to play. What exactly would they notice ? What exactly would it benefit server owners ? Also, bear in mind that Brink is also an Xbox title. Perhaps microsoft made it a part of their contract specifically prohibiting linux server files. But tbh, what the hell do we need them for ?

Crosshair customization. yeah, it would be nice. I am sure most of us would prefer a small dot. But hey, its the same for everyone. Deal with it. Get used to it. It doesn’t make THAT MUCH difference.

HUD. What is so wrong with the HUD that it makes it unplayable ?

Cvar unlocks. Yeah, some could be useful for servers, but remember, its the same for everyone.

Play the game as it is, no amount of HUD ,Crosshair customization, cvar unlocking or linux server files will make people teamplay better. The game is fun as it is. It isn’t RTCW or ETQW, but then again, maybe thats a good thing. Or if you don’t like it, well don’t play

I was with you for those post and then I read your last sentence… and the problem is, many neither like it, nor play it :frowning:

(.Chris.) #13

Of course it wont improve the teamplay aspect of the game, no one said it would…

It would enhance the end user experience, been able to play comfortably isn’t much to ask in this day and age.

I’m sick of this argument, it isn’t ET or ET:QW, no **** it isn’t…

Still it’s puzzling how those games with smaller budgets and a smaller work force behind them managed to get so much right in the UI department while Brink severely lacks. SD have said themselves they would have liked to done so much more with the UI but were unable to for a number of reasons which is all fine and dandy but that shouldn’t be the case, I find it quite hard to understand why it’s been so hard to find a UI coder for this project, whoever handles human resources at SD clearly dropped a bollock on this one. I dont work in the industry so I’m not sure how things work exactly but I would have assumed there would be some agencies of sorts out there that can provide temporary staff as they do with many other industries?

Guess what? Many have done just that and we are now left with ridiculously low player counts…

See how that argument fails to address the problem at hand?

(ziporco) #14

finally chris is going to reveal hiself

and i totally agree with him, once.

(sanDIOkan) #15

****!!!
this is a game and shouldn’t be so full of burocracy.
we don’t care about it we just wanna have fun and NORMAL things like pause, record, stop, referee, callvote etc, should have been there since the beginning.

And btw like chris says, how hard is to get a temporary artist that can make a decent hud? what about a limbo menu where i can chose my class, my body, my weapons?

You sold out around 250.000 copies of brink just for pc. Aren’t they enough to give us a decent game?
After 3 months we are here still asking for editable crosshair and linux servers. This must be a joke.
You can totally edit your alter ego with 1000 kinds of beards, hairs, clothes, weapons, bull****s but there is 1 crosshair. 1!!! Is it supposed to be a fps or mr potato’s simulator?

hey hey hey … fly down!!! brink is awesome! It’s my game!

If you don’t have the money to do a thing (this is ridicolous btw) just program and release the sdk so people will fix the game as they like.

(Codine) #16

Hell, if they start doing a closed beta of an SDK this game would have so many community made improvements, and it would be free even…I’m pretty sure that the majority of modders looking forward to this game would love to fix this game up for free.

But seriously now, how hard can it be to make new crosshairs? I’m pretty sure the multiple crosshairs were already built into the engine…

I’m starting to feel bad for the people going to compete at quake con. I’m going to laugh if frame rate issues are going to be a problem in the competition.

I dislike community made “improvements” as usually what they really are: are “niche mods” to make the game suit their gameplay, like reducing spread so they can parkour weilding a 10lb metal gun with pinpoint accuracy! Or limit classes that “in their opinion” are “cheap” (usually means they lack the adaptive streak to cope with said “cheap class/weapon” so they simply remove or limit it… :frowning: ) Also they split the servers/community. = BAD!

I like the hud, like the crosshairs, love the game. Love the DLC, sure it is not perfect, but it is engaging, fast, tactical and dynanmic… except on boring full holds where team STACKS stop team PLAY. (such as CC all experienced players that refuse to have a loss go Resistance for the Uber stack!)

Still, if they expect to make any further money, only possible by saving/maintaining their reputation in the eyes of the community (which I am part of and so far have adored the feedback and support from SD). I am sure SD will not only try and keep the marketing induced A.D.D. kids buying their games, but us wiser/more cynical gamers… you know… the ones playing FPS since Quakespy who now have well paid jobs and lots of money for gaming… (cough, all the consoles, hundreds of games and a uber rig for the cream of gaming cough), so know what we like and dislike from a 15 years of gaming background.

We will see improvements, both in feedback and the game, I am positive. :stroggbanana:

(FireWorks) #18

Well put, NID

(matsy) #19

only plus side would be that if people are still buying the game of steam / will be buying DLC’s they can continue working on the game as a whole. Down side is I fear no one will be buying the DLC’s or playing the game…

(Patriotqube) #20

First of the Linux server files was promised before release

second that is just a plain stupid question your asking there mate, there is a whole world in difference in paying for a windows server pack or beeing able to run your own linux server for free.

in case you havent noticed the software packages dosent come with the same prizetag.

we have been running our gameservers on a Linux server for years, and im not going to change that,

If Brink aint comming on Linux then my support to the game will rely on how many money im willing to put in to rent gameservers, as that is cheaper than buying a Windoes server package solution.

It goes without saying that that support wont stand forever.
