Crosshair editing question!

(Jostabeere) #1

Hello.
I am using the Dot-crosshair mainly because the full one is ugly.
But then I see the advantages of a full crosshair and I need someone who knows how to edit such things in the game files.
Can you edit the original crosshair in Dirty Bomb?
This is the default one:

Is it possible to edit the cross-shaped part and make it shorter? Like 3/4 or 1/2 of the default one?
Something like this:

Idk how to even input custom crosshairs(too lazy) but I just wanted a clarification though. Are you trying to edit it as a direct PNG/JPEG image? Or just shortening the sides but still part of the game where the crosshair movies depending on the gun’s recoil?

I would kile to keep the dynamic crosshair which moves with the spread. So not an overlay crosshair .png.

At this time, there is no way to edit your crosshair in-game in Dirty Bomb like you mention.
In game, you can switch between full and dot crossahair, with small, medium, and large as different size options.

You have to use a program like Mumble (Not a CheatEngine) to overlay a different crosshair from those listed if you wish.

It’s one of those requested features that I still wonder why a dev has not sat down during a coffee-break, started up Paint and then pasted into the folders.

If you know the centre pixel/pixels, it takes seconds to make “official” crosshairs that can then be scaled by spread and such. Hell, all I personally want is a slider for the crosshair size so I can get a slightly larger dot.

It literally scares me that this is taking any time at all to put into the game, yet we get trinkets that no-one will look at more than once or twice? Please!

you guys have forgotten none crosshair :trollface:

(Dagasawr) #7

@RazielWarmonic is there any chance of SD working on adding custom crosshairs to the game ?

(RazielWarmonic) #8

I can ask! :slight_smile:

Until you guys get the crosshairs properly aligned and allow full customization, I’ll be using my mumble dot crosshair. Cause it’s awesome.

More customization is always welcome. People who know me though probably won’t be surprised to hear that I honestly can’t even say what crosshair I use or if it’s dynamic. I actually had to load up youtube to check. My brain just stops seeing/noticing stuff like that after a short while. But one of the best things about many games is the ability to customize the experience so I hope SD treats this as an easy feature request to get done during the clean-up/polish phase for DB’s release out of beta (when/if that ever happens).

@RazielWarmonic

a little off topic but a fix on the stark crosshair when ADS would be nice too!

that slight off centre everytime…

I think people are nit-picking this whole “crosshair not being centered” thing. Does it really make a difference? Is there any proof to back this up?

I don’t see the problem with the crosshairs in the game already. I and many others do fine with the dot crosshair.

When you think about hitboxes, and think about the crosshair being 1 pixel off (assuming it really is) then it wouldn’t even matter. You don’t need this kind of pin-point accuracy to hit a hitbox, which is also likely effectively larger than the character itself depending on your perspective (angle & distance).

So I guess I don’t understand why people are so interested in replacing the crosshair. Is there anyone who can point out some proof that the crosshair is inaccurate and demonstrate why it’s an issue?

This is so incredibly…Not smart.

@Sneak

It IS of center, and even if its still ‘accurate’ the center should BE the center!

If you have nothing useful to say, don’t bother replying.

Yes, the center should be the center… but it seems people are making a huge deal out of this when there are several more important issues that have higher priority to be fixed. So I’d like some kind of explanation as to why this is such a big deal to so many people.

It’s just bad and there is nothing useful that need to be said against it. Not centered crosshair is crap. Period. If you need to shoot on a long range and the crosshair isn’t centered, you will miss. It is a damn huge deal if you aim and miss because a damn crosshair isn’t centered. If you need an explanation on this and why an off-center crosshair is an issue, you never play a shooter.
