Credits too hard to gain

(formidableWhorl) #1

I don’t know why credits are so hard to gain but as I’m new to the game I made a lot of bad choices with cards and my first merc, now it feels like I have “gimped” this account and don’t play nearly as much as I would if I actually had a merc I had bought that I like

I have literally been playing for days just trying to get an autosniper for vasili who I cannot even use some games because everyone decides they are going to jump instead of running.

The missions are bad and seem to be broken, the XP earned does not seem to register like it says it should “gain 6000xp with Fragger in your squad” etc… I seem to get about 10% of the XP that I earn in game register for the mission. Is it just bad English and it’s supposed to say “Earn 6000xp using fragger?”

I have 200 credits, not one augment card I am happy with, and have been playing 4 days or so.

I am not going to start a new steam account just for this game so I really think you need to give players some ability to earn decent credits because I have no idea if people are lying or what when they say “just play missions for credits”… the missions barely work if they do at all and give you next to nothing… and only refresh every 2 hours.

And to top it all off, the stuff you get is random. It could be literally weeks before I get an autosniper for vasili but the paradox is that I am bored with the game without it so it just seems like a tedious grind.

Without completing the missions I seem to play 4 games, look at my credits, I have less than 500, then I log off bored.

It feels I imagine like running in the one spot.

Pay more attention to those missions. For example that Fragger mission is Combat XP, not just XP in general and I believe there is still a bug with the Stopwatch game mode where the XP that you gain in the second half of the match doesn’t count towards missions, so that’s another thing to look out for.
All in all Dirty Bomb is one of the least grindy modern f2p games that I’ve played, completing just one set of missions + the daily bonuses should gets you at least 3k credits for like an hour of gametime and each set of missions that refresh every 3 hours is another free 1,5k+ credits.
I would even say the game is too free for the devs’ own good.

(formidableWhorl) #3

Everyone says that about the missions but I can’t complete a single one. I’ve had “Earn 15k experience in stop watch mode” and “Earn 9k experience in stopwatch mode” these both seem broken they progress way slower than they should, and only give 1.5k credits for BOTH missions. That’s like 6 hours game time and im not even half way. 750 credits to play a game of competitive… literally no one plays competitive. So yeah its been 4 days Im not sure if I have managed to complete a single mission. Maybe I am just bad at the game but in my opinion this is the biggest grind in any game I have ever come across in my life.

(formidableWhorl) #4

I just played a 20 minute game, I got 600 combat xp or whatever. I need 6000. That is 2.5 hours of game time for what? 750 credits IF THAT.

(gg2ez) #5

This video explains the basics of earning credits in DB.

(formidableWhorl) #6

Well I’ve been playing 4 days, refreshed a lot of missions and I have not seen any of the missions that guy has in the video… I just get crap glitch impossible to complete missions which only give 500 credits even if you do manage to somehow complete it.

Yeah i’m sure if you magically get “earn 16k support xp” for 1k credits then yeah it would be easy.

I have never seen that mission or the other one he has

(formidableWhorl) #7

Anyway I feel like I wasted 20 hours just to literally have unlocked not a single thing except vasili who I hate without autosniper, my account feels like a black hole where I could grind for another 20 hours and still have not got anywhere.

If there was some way of selling loadout cards for credits I’d probably keep playing but right now this is just a game I would love to play but just keep getting bored after the smallest amount of time because of the hideously glitched/complicated missions and MASSIVE grind for GETTING NO WHERE.

And im supposed to fight level 35 people like a dumb little lamb when I don’t have a single merc/loadout that I like.

Pass

No, it shouldn’t say “Earn 6000xp using fragger?” because you don’t really have to use him.

Here’s a great tip: Anything but Value Vassili.
…but no, it shouldn’t be weeks since you get 500 credits every day from playing Objective and Stopwatch and from your first win so that’s 1,500 + whatever you get from matches (easily 2,000+) credits guaranteed every day and it can take just 2 matches.
+500 from Execution when it’s available.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

in my opinion this is the biggest grind in any game I have ever come across in my life

points at the direction of MMORPGs and old JRPGs

Well. The missions don’t take long if you can earn XP quickly. Vassili is not a great way to earn XP, especially for a newer player. Also, main objectives are worth 1000XP, so completing those will help. Additionally, giving out ammo can give you massive amounts of XP, especially if you give it out as you spawn.

Also, The better you get at the game the easier those combat XP mission will be. For me, they take four to two games.

(formidableWhorl) #10

Well I guess I will just stop playing then. Apparently I am the only one who thinks this progression of credits is demoralizing, glitched and possibly broken.

(formidableWhorl) #11

and no mmorpgs are less of a grind. You can change your weapon from rusty dagger to bronze dagger in about 5-10 minutes

Thanks for posting your concerns in an honest and open way. Most of us here play the game for a longer time and things become obvious if they are actually not to everyone. Thanks for bringing in your new player perspective.

But first I gotta say you got a couple misconceptions… I mean I literally cringe if you say you cant hit people cause they decide to jump instead of running… You dont expect to just camp all day and farm noobs, right?

Now to the more helpful part:
You can do your stopwatch missions in normal quickjoin/serverbrowser matches. You dont need to play comp for it.

About the XP missions for mercs: Some have just (general) XP, but some of them require one of the specific XP types.
There is
-Combat for kills and kill assists. The missions come for pure killer mercs, in your case Fragger.
-Support is stuff like dropping ammo or healing or reviving. They even added “health insurance” that gets you support XP for the XP the healed/revived player earns. So heal them and let them do the work for you
-Game mode XP is for things like repairing the EV, or nuking the EV, planting C4 or capturing forward spawns.

In the ending screen of the match you can see which how much of each type you have earned during the match.

Your default Skyhammer merc is perfectly suited for all 3 kinds of XP. Hes got the best rifle in the game (M4), can spam ammo to the team (70XP per pack to a new spawned merc) and you get over 1000 game mode XP for tossing an airstrike along a full health EV completely disabling it.
Yep, this beast the default merc.

In general, once you know what you do, you get all missions (except comp) done in 2 rounds, so 2 objective or 1 stopwatch match . As a new player you will need more of course, but focus a bit and youll get there. And I mean all 3 missions of a refill cycle in 2 matches!

Last but not least: Cancel missions you dont like, they refill every 3hours. Stopwatch can be hard for starters as it has different spawntimings. Objective mode is way easier. Also your combat XP for fragger can be hard until you get used to the gunplay of the game, support or game mode will be a lot easier since you dont need to frag player.

edit:
You also just need the mercs in your squad, you dont actually need to play them. So if you need support XP with Aura, you can also just earn support XP with Skyhammer and it still counts the same way.

(K1X455) #13

Some mercs are more efficient in gaining a specific XP than others.

In some maps like Chappel, you can get tons and tons of Support XP by just playing Aura or SkyHammer. In the last section of being on the offensive side in Chappel, if you choose to be Aura a d get the objective to the PCO Building, you’ll get 1000 Game Mode XP. Just remember to pass ammo (don’t just drop them) and heal team mate with your health station. You’ll pretty much level up too quick though so pay attention to other game details.

Once you learn the game and start using mercs that are better at certain missions you’ll suddenly but swimming in credits. Trying to use Vassili, who is a really awful starting merc and isn’t good for anything but combat missions (but only if you’re doing well), isn’t doing you any favors. For support XP missions you an use either Skyhammer who is free and pass out tons of ammo or Aura and revive/heal people. And for Game XP use one of the engineers on the free rotation that week. You can also use Vassili or Skyhammer for Combat XP or whomever you want as long as you kill people.

But if you’re playing a Vassili who going 5-10 every match and forgetting to throw out your heartbeat sensor (only source of support XP for him) then you’re going to have a rough go at getting credits. And it sounds like this might be the source of your issue.

I get all three missions done, typically, within 2 Objective games no matter which type of mission it is if the games are decently long.

Also, don’t feel like you have to collect every merc and every card. Just pick a couple and stick to that and have fun and unlock other mercs as you go to try out.

(Patrol1985) #15

It’s true that learning to play the game allows one to complete missions faster, thus increasing their credits/time ratio…

…however, let’s be clear about something - you will have to grind anyway. If it wasn’t time consuming to earn credits, nobody would pay real money to get stuff faster and the publisher/dev wouldn’t profit. That’s how money is made with a “free 2 play” title. Either you sacrifice LOTS of time or money. No way around it.

(formidableWhorl) #16

Yeah that explains the missions a bit more fireworks. Should be able to get an autosniper in the next few days depending if I keep getting bolt actions or not

(Amerika) #17

Are you buying 1000 credit cases and then trying to trade-up for the loadout you want? If so stop buying cases and save your credits for the bronze you want or a new merc. You can go to the Store and buy your preferred bronze that includes the PDP for 17.5k credits.

(FireWorks) #18

As Amerika posted above, you will have a hard time if you just stick with Vassili and get no kills with him.

Also his other hint with buying the bronze card from the store for 17k5 is a path to go.

(mpod89) #19

Vassili is not that good at getting a lot of XP points, and that is especially true for Game mode XP. It’s because you stay back and snipe. You don’t deliver/repair objectives, and when on defense you most often don’t stay too close to your objective so you don’t get the guard XP. He’s alright for support XP if you keep dropping Heartbeat Sensor, and you should drop it all the time, it helps your team and gives you XP. He’s okay for combat Xp if you’re a good at sniping. Whenever you see Vassili as team leader in points he’s probably very good. Mostly they’re in the middle/going towards lower half in my experience. Keep in mind that a good Vassili is a f***ing nightmare to deal with.
I would recommend you to try a merc with a SMG because it’s most forgiving to a new player. Because of the high fire rate you’re less punished for missing than you are when playing sniper, shotgun and such. I would say that most new player friendly merc is Nadder, she has the SMG and also has grenade launcher which you can spam without thinking and will surely hit something. She is often complained about because of it. Other new player friendly mercs are Fragger and Rhino. They both have large health pools and a lot of fire power. All of these are 50k so i guess you’re a bit far away from getting them, but do consider saving for them and try not to waste your credits. Don’t buy cases or specific loadouts, they’re not worth it until later in the game.
Skyhammer is one of the best mercs in the game and he’s free from the start. Pass out ammo to your teammates for support XP, hit them instead of dropping it on the floor to get bonus XP. Airstrike is awesome and you can single-handedly disable the EV and get objective XP, it doubles up as a grenade indoors and he has a good rifle and good life pool. I’ve seen people having him in their loadouts on very late levels. I just came off from a game where a lvl 67. had him in his loadout.
Anyway my point is to try something else than Vassili because he’s not that good for new players.

(jonesy) #20

200 credits? you can get a free 1000 credits EVERY DAY by playing a stopwatch match and an objective match plus another 500 for winning a match.

-play as a medic if you need support XP
-avoid vasilli for combat XP because you wont get enough unless youre really good at aiming
-if you have a mission that needs a certain merc in your squad just put them as a 3rd, you dont need to actually play as them

i wasted 50k on phantom right before they nerfd him and wasted 50k on redeye (imo) and i still have managed to save enough to get the mercs i actually wanted
