There are different degrees of copying.

Is that considered copying? The artist took different pictures and pasted them together to create a completely different piece of art. Blatant copying is wrong, that is, when you take someone elses work and claim it as your own. An example could be if I were to simply change the ground texture of oasis and then call it ā€˜Oasis by Avocā€™.

I have nothing against if you take bits and pieces from other maps and stick them into your map. Sometimes even that takes a lot of time, because you still have to make the different seem as a natural part of the map. I donā€™t have anything against making ET versions of maps from other games, as long as the person actually puts effort in it, and does not simply rip the map.

People dont like big maps, which you get with new content.
People like things they recognize, which you get by using known content.
Mappers have lifeā€™s ā€¦donā€™t we :slight_smile: ā€¦ and donā€™t do this for a living.

Of course it would be nice if all new maps have something new. I always do, but whatā€™s wrong with re-using something good ?
