Crash while hosting LAN game

(Randae) #1

Hey!

My game crashes 20sec-1min after the player that I want to play together with joins the LAN game I’m hosting, normally when firing a shot. The crash occures without any notice, error message or otherwise. Brink just… vanishes.

Game works fine solo and when joining internet games, just not when hosting LAN.

Help would be much appreciated.

There are a couple posts about lan already not sure if it got figured out or not, but it might behoove you to look into those other threads. Now that you have an account you should be able to search fairly thoroughly.

I could not find any thread related to LAN-hosting crashes. Would you kindly point me to one or two of them, should my search-fu really be that weak and they exist?

I see your problem. Sorry I didn’t even consider the whole 3 letter word no search criteria. I will dig thru here and see if I find them.

Some info from a member in the forums

Is the only thread I found with any kind of answer, I could have swore there was another thread with more info.

I believe Jimmy James is saying to connect thru LAN in game and direct connect to the LAN IP with the port. 192.168..:27015

I also read in another forum post that using the actual public IP to connect is the way to go. SO if using the LAN IP dosn’t work try connecting under the LAN selection direct connect to public IP:port

I much appreciate your efforts, thank you.

The thread you mention seems to be related to connectivity issues. Interestingly, the connection works just fine for me, my gf sees my computer hosting the LAN-server without problems, can connect, and everything works fine for a few seconds.

Then the crash occurs, usually (but not always) when the connected client does something like shooting. No warning, no error message, the hosting game client just disappears, sending me back to desktop.
I can provide dump files and error logs in abundance, if needed, since the crash happens every time.
