i’ve recorded some custom vo commands but whenever the game tries to play em, it crashes with an unknown exception. the format is
wave pcm signed 16bit 352kbps mono just like the sd ones, as far as goldwave tells me…
crash on custom vo sound
hm, i tried playing the sounds via a speaker and the play command and both worked, so i’m very confused right now…

caused by this line of script:
wm_teamvoiceannounce 1 “transmitter_allies_steal_kit”
corresponding sound script:
transmitter_allies_steal_kit
{
sound/vo/transmitter/allies/stealkit.wav
voice
streaming
}
[/img]
The commander VO sounds where created with the following settings:
22Khz, 16Bit, Mono, no compression, standard WAV format. To test a sound file inside of ET use the console command “play”. For example:
\play sound/vo/goldrush/allies/hq_goldget.wav

Edit: After checking the sound file you saving too much redundant information to the sound file. Like: chunk and padding for example. Check the save options for the package and make sure you are just saving the sound.
We opened your sound file, reduce the overall volume to stop clipping (a slight compression was added) and re-saved it 4k smaller.
heh, i got the error, it was in the sound script:
transmitter_allies_steal_kit
{
sound sound/vo/transmitter/allies/stealkit.wav
voice
streaming
}
:bash: :banghead:
thanks for your help anyways!
btw, as i posted, i knew the play command, just not to let me sound like a noob
I’m glad you found the problem with the sound, it certainly played fine on my PC. I was not sure if you knew about the play console command, it was new to me.

sound_reference_name
{
sound sound_path_and_file_name
voice
streaming
}
Are there any other attributes than “sound [filename]”, “voice” and “streaming” possible? How long can sound names (sound_reference_name) be and which characters are allowed? (Is there anywhere a reference for it available?)
