Crash - "Critical Error"

During play my game suddenly went back to the main menu and gave me a “critical error” message. It said the game then had to shut down. It didn’t CTD, it froze and I had to Ctrl+Alt+Del then force the program the close.

Crashes are to be expected in games. It happens even to games that have been out for a while. Please update me on whether this happens frequently or repetitively after performing a particular action.
