CPU usage goes up to 99% after 30min in game -> leads to awful lags -> restart only option?

(phila_delphia) #21

Sorry to say that my log does not cover this. I Surely will check on it but I am alsmost certain that the frequncy was “locked” at 3.3 Ghz. But I will surely check this.

Still - if (even temporal) overheating caused the throtteling - everything should go back to normal after some time in the ingame menue… Still this is not the case?!

Furthermore a restart of the game instantly fixes all the lagging…

Thank you, that you care!

Your problem is very strange. I have a laptop that has 1,8ghz and it’s a i7. I can play for hours and does not happens this. Did you tried to download some custom configs? maybe could work…

(phila_delphia) #23

Unfortunately I get this issue with or without custom config…

Sounds like your hardware should run it no problem. I had the same issue but it was definitely my CPU being a bit old (AMD Phenom x4 9850 OC’d 2.75GHz.)

The way I solved it for myself was I had to turn on Fullscreen, VSync and OneFrameThreadLag and it doubled my avg FPS which I found odd since most games I play worked best in Windowed mode with VSync off. Hope this helps, if not I really have no clue what’s wrong, must be a hardware issue somewhere. Could just be an optimization problem in which case you need to wait for more updates, the game is still in early access/beta.

I know you said it’s not overheating, but can you still check what your temp is and post it? I use Real Temp to measure mine.

(phila_delphia) #26

The Temp is 68 Degree at the max.

I guess I found out what causes the FPS BUG -> It seem sto be the USB Headset with integrated soundcard (Speedlink Meduas NX 5.1).

With it unplugged I have no drops at all.

There are many things that can affect the gameplay. Seeing as your hardware should be fine, that brings the number of causes down significantly.

If you are not using a laptop then check the cable you connect to your display. HDMI and Display Port are ideal if they connect to your GPU. EMPHASIS ON “GPU”. Don’t make that silly mistake.

Secondly make sure that your CPU is well cooled and at the ideal temperature when idle (25°-40°). 68°C is waay above ideal temperatures for a PC. Consider 60° your max for short periods and ~50° for long periods. If you are using a PC, consider opening up your PC and inspect your cooling system. Clean off any dust on the fan and if that doesn’t work, get another cooling system. Corsair’s Hydro series is pretty good. I use the H100i. See what is good for you!

If you are on a laptop then check your cooling system and consider getting a cooling mat that cools your laptop. Or you could also get an external GPU to boost your graphics and take load off your CPU.

Other that that I don’t have much to offer. Hope this Helps!
Let me know how it worked out for you

I appreciate the time you took to write your coment - still this not seems to be the problem.

There are somt others who experience the same issue… Seems not be related to some sort fo overheating.

I got the same problem on two different machines (notebook & desktop):

After some time the frames start to drop from +125 towards 0.

This is the way the cores of my machine are utilized:

This is right after I start the tutorial map (running at about 125 FPS):

This is how the cores are utilized after about an hour in game:

Please help!

And it’s the Dirty Bomb game process that ends up choking your CPU in the end, nothing else? No Windows Service Host or the likes?

(phila_delphia) #33

As far as I know it`s not. the few processes running require less then 1% each.

I have been having a similar problem to you. I notice FPS drops after about half hour and my dirty bomb sound slowly starts to “tear”, followed by all sounds on pc i.e. teamspeak and anything else I open afterwards. This is fixed by exiting the game.

I have not personally looked at my temps or CPU usage as I am running a fairly new pc: 4790k, gtx 970, 16gb ram, with all drivers up to date. That being said, it appears to be a graphics/sound driver issue.

I have tried to verify the game files through steam, and every time so far it has been missing 2 files, and downloads 6.8mb, probably has something to do with it. After verifying again today, and then turning vsync on (idk why i didn’t do this earlier), my problem seems to have disappeared.

I’ve only just signed up to the forums, if the problem returns I will take note of CPU/GPU usage and temps and post my findings.

For now i’d suggest verify your game cache and turn on vsync if its not already?

Is there any news regarding my problem?

Here is a vid that shows how laggy the game gets in the end.

Also this vid is not mine. So someone seems to have the same problem.

The case can be closed!

Funny but true: My gmaing mouse - the “Roccat Tyon” or the TYON`s driver caused the issue.

Not only in Dirty Bomb but in every single UE3 based game.

Thx for all your help best regards

phila

P.S. Using any other mouse will keep the game running perfectly smooth, but as soon as I plug in the TYON again (no matter if on my desktop or nootebook) the FPS will start to drop over time.

(Ishtar) #37

Same here… but it happens just when i enter the game. My CPU usage goes up to 99%.
My FPS drops and it’s impossible to play.
