Can i fit an am3+ cpu into an am3 socket? the am3 socket has 942 contacts, and the am3+ socket has 943… but the FX cpus, (which are am3+) have 940 pins, and the am3 cpus have 938… Some am3 motherboards from MSI have has a bios update to work with am3+ from what ive heard, but i wanna know if this actually happened or not. I have an msi nf980-g65

No. You cannot put an AM3+ cpu into an AM3 socket. You CAN put an AM3 cpu into an AM3+ socket, but that is different.
