Covert Ops Stuff

IMHO…Sniping the enemy can be very effective when used sparingly. The unfortunate thing is that I come across a lot of players that don’t know when to switch to fg42 or Sten. When I play covert I think about the map and in what way my abilities as a covert can help. Not to say that I know all there is to know but I feel I’ve picked up enough on this game to say that sniping can help your team. For example, it creates confusion by keeping the enemy fo’s from standing up on the tower/hill in fueldump and arty spamming the tank. (the mobile mg of course is and so are mortars but insta gib on your teammates happens far too often.) And on battery sniping the ememy in the bunker can slow them down long enough for your engie to build the ramp. Like I said I will switch weapons or even dump a weapon in favor of one that is going to help the team. Because once you get into close contact the sten is a great weapon! fg42 is good for medium range but once fired you lose the uniform that you just stole. So, I don’t think it is that good for infiltration. Where as the Sten can be effective medium to short range and infiltration.

Bottom line is that if used properly, sniping can reach out and touch someone, ;).

I think my original concept must have been a little hard for you to grasp - whatever. My original post (you did read it didn’t you?) was about a specific element of gameplay… Only one of you have responded to that question.

My post about the mod - it’s pretty clear really - if this guy implements all the things he says he’s going to implement then it sounds like alot of the threads in this forum will be redundant - if he’s preapred to offer me a cvar that turns on or off an option that allows sneaky Cov ops and an Enginner the choice of which thing to blow up and in what order then I’m all for it.

I’m all for new maps and campaigns but understand the problem of getting enough ppl interested in them to invest time and effort in learning them - so why not release a mod as a wholesale patch with a new campaign - would you be intereseted in downloading something that addressed alot of your issues with the game and also enabled gameplay? - Fusen, stfu btw.

:bump:

v583, didn’t mean to hijack the thread.

I like the idea you have though. I definelty could think of some strats to work well within those constraints…

this is such a beaten topic in et.

the cvops when played right can be a very powerful class of player and if for nothing other than spotting those pesky mines that blow your team-mates up just as they try to reach an objective

thast true for any class. its not like covies are utterly useless. but the majority of the time covies dont do thier jobs of blowing defenses and opening doors and taking unis. but ssniping can be very useful also.

Frankly, sniping is not a real big help to your team. Anything that can be said in favor of sniping can be done with better effect by anybody else with an SMG. You don’t need a sniper to take out the engineers, etc. Anybody can shoot 'em. I tend to view snipers as just somebody I pass on the street. They’re not really part of the team, in my eyes. They are just somebody who joined the server to practice sniping. The sniper gets a few kills, plinks at the enemy, etc. Not real useful

youve played with some pretty shitty snipers buddy. sniping is a very useful tool as i have said, but only on maps like battery and fueldump. covert ops can be the most useful tool and the most useless to a team, depending on how they are used. but once again. thats the same for almost every class.
