Counterplay against Thunder?

I know several things about Thunder:

  1. Flashbang’s Blind does not have a range limit. (I get blinded by Flashbangs that go off on the other side of the map all the time)
  2. Flashbang does not check to see if the enemy is actually looking at the Flashbang in order to Blind them. (full 180 degree turn from one and I still get blinded)
  3. You get stunned if a Flashbang goes off near you (as expected)
  4. Thunder is a Tank (as expected)

Meaning, the only way not to get blinded is to have a physical object between you and the Flashbang when it goes off, which means there is no way of viably confronting a Thunder directly if he throws one in the general direction of you, because you won’t be able to see anything until after he’s already killed you. Meaning the only way to damage him without effectively killing yourself is through Indirect fire.

Thunder’s meaty HP pool means he can shrug off Rollers or singular Bombs from Nader or Fletcher, and Gamesense usually counters Firesupport abilities and Fragger’s Grenade, as well as Proxy Mines and Sticky Traps.

As such, my question is simple, how does one counter a Thunder?

Umm… yes it does. I think you just don’t have a good enough reaction time. I have never been flashed without the conc being within the max FoV.

Yeah, if you turn around completely you won’t get blinded.

But usually when I see a thunder, I take a few shots and just leave before he has time to hit me, then try to flank him or come back with other teammates. You have to be strategic about it, go for headshots more than ever and try to surprise him.

Snipers or another Thunder show best results.
