Countering Molotov

(everlovestruck) #1

I would like to know what augment protects from impact and the fire itself
Technically, Stoker is a Fire support merc so it should be Guarding Angel, because it says it works against fire support abilities iirc
Logically, Molotov is a grenade, so it’s counter should be Unshakable
What augment should I look for?

Take Stoker’s Fire Support literally

There’s no augment protecting you from fire, AFAIK but here’s the workaround

  1. Walljump/Longjump over the fire
  2. Use explosives/smoke grenade on the fire to kill it, preferably explosives like sticky bombs and GL projectiles

the damage arent that as big as when the direct hit damage even more.

i can dip once or twice into the fire without dying but definetly cant cross thru

pretty balanced imo

I guess you guys missed the point of the topic
I ain’t looking for tips on how to avoid Molotov - 700+ hrs taught me something
The thing I’m interested in is how to survive frustrating situations when you and the opponent are both @10% health and empty clips and that motherfucker taps q and insta-wins.

Press K to get ammo.

(Your worst knifemare.) #6

You can always attempt to knife him before he has a chance.

I’m sure Phantom has a card with both augments(if you like the blishlok)

“RUN”

or

use your ability, i mean fletcher has stickies, proxy can drop mines near the stoker to further prevent him throwing his readied molotov and allowing yourself to run away

if youre playing as medic…
well, use the health abilities before he throws it or if you are fighting with nader or fragger use their nade to suicide

also, losing one duel doesnt mean it losing the war, unless its the last part of the objective which you need to defend/attack

also, on many occasion tapping Q wont make him win because if he missed he fucked up big time because you can reload your gun/knife him

many ways to do it, its just that you need to be creative

I don’t think there’s any solution aside from breaking the engagement as soon as the guy in front of you is out of ammo.

@Eox could you please close the thread? people can’t fucking read

I just asked which of the following augments work against molotov :persevere:

(ImSploosh) #10

I don’t think either augment works against the molotov. It’s a good thing it’s like that too! Currently, the molotov is really underpowered. It was once a decent ability, but after some more recent patches, it appears they nerfed it (and looks like there was no mention of a nerf, perhaps it was a mistake).

They nerfed it a while ago which made it much worse, but in recent patches, it’s gotten so bad that you can run right through it without the fear of dying.
