Countering Fraggers?

It seems like the common solution for dealing with camping (or whatever other troubles I’m unaware of) is using explosives (i.e. nader/fragger). Naders can be countered easily if you know what you’re doing, but how about fraggers? Is there any way of dealing with fraggers (specifically cooked grenades since that’s his ability and all that)? If not, does he need some sort of possible counterplay against him?

imo he’s definitely not OP and I personally haven’t had much trouble with him in 1v1 gunfights, but that’s probably cuz I play pub matches. haha

I think he’ll have a hard time fighting people harassing him at very close range (where he won’t be able to use his nades because he would also hurt himself). Snipers may also be efficient : he’s the second slowest merc at the moment after all.

Avoid to roam around corners for too long : it’s typically where you will take a divine punishment frag grenade in the face. If you realise that a Fragger suddenly stopped attacking, he’s very probably cooking a nade. In that case, leave the corner, and either find a way to quickly ambush him from another side or get in his face if he’s close enough… Or just leave the corner and go back once the nade exploded. Just be careful about the second one.

Fragger is pretty well-rounded, and doesn’t really have any obvious hard counters. It’s more about, as @Eox says, being aware of where you’re safe and where you’re likely to eat a grenade - and behaving accordingly. There’s definitely things to watch out for ( if Fragger takes cover, it’s most likely not because he’s retreating; if you think he’s seen you but he doesn’t start shooting he’s most likely not ignoring you ), but I think you can only really learn by playing against him long enough to recognize them instinctively.

I appreciate the tips guys. Hopefully this will be helpful for other players as well.

If a Fragger backs off into cover, he is most likely cooking a grenade. Just put yourself in a position where the nade won’t hit you. Also be wary of coming off spawns. Lots of Fraggers like to predict the spawn wave and try to take out your entire team when funneling in through obvious routes.

Snipers ( however against a mediocre sniper I can still outgun you with right loadout).
Close range weapons and fast movement.
He is fairly slow you should be able to headshot a lot.
Flank, backstab.
Zerg him.
