Couldn't authentificate user ....

I get disconnected from all servers after 2-3 minutes with a message “Couldn’t authentificate user” …

it is not good if the few people still playing are getting kicked without a reason:(

yea, i just got that too, for the last games i tried to play. 3 different servers.

what is this? some steam issues?

i have this problem too since today at 19:30 the server i was befor change i could play but was too high ping and now on other servers kicked after few minutes with this error massage

rebooted my pc and it works again…

Might be because TF2 is now Free 2 Play and the Steam servers can’t handle the huge demand.

might be.

it definetely has something to do with steam. in the status bar at the bottom there sometimes is a message, “not connected” or something like that. if this happens, restart steam and wait for a few seconds.

your steam client has to synchronize with the steam server i guess, and it seems a bit busy right now.

confirmed.

had that error on 4 different servers today, and after reboot all was fine.
We’ll see about tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue:

Big issue with this today. Could not get onto any server for more than a few minutes then “could not authenticate user.” I have tried a few servers , all same issue. I have restarted our server, run update tool and rebooted my machine all to no avail. A lot of people seemed to have an issue with this this morning. Is it steam ? $ players at same time kicked from server because of it.

Any ideas anyone ?

Having been unable to reproduce this, I think this is a Steam issue and probably only temporary.

possibly. steam has been terribly slow lately too. i think i was gett 17Kbps off them last time i tried to download! im on a 10Mb line!

i see plenty of authentication issues too. its a shame as after every game some people seem to drop out due to this
