Could we please get an UI performance update next year?

It feels like the UI gets slower every day.

  • Just tonight I could actually watch the XP bar fill up one millimetre a second, same for the NW progress bar.
  • Selecting a new merc in the Pub lobby is awfully slow to the point where it’s impossible to change more than one merc in time before the match starts. Strange enough it’s much faster in Ranked.
  • Sometimes the merc icons don’t even show up at all.
  • When quick-opening more than a few cases the UI starts flickering, including merc portraits and loadout cards.
  • … and so on

I love how smooth it’s atm, albeit it IS inconveniently slow

Agreed. My game runs smoothly at the 180 fps cap, but the main menu and pregame lobby and all that stuff runs at about 20 fps even though it says it’s capped at 60.

Would also be nice if instead of capping the fps at 60 they just forced v-sync on in the main menu. Every time I open a case I get massive screen tearing and it’s really annoying + 60 fps feels laggy after getting used to 144 : 3

Same here - game performance is fine with 100+ fps most of the time (unless we decide to pile corpses during warmup of course) so I don’t think it’s a matter of CPU/GPU power.

Remember this? http://forums.dirtybomb.com/discussion/24380/dev-stream-round-up-22nd-february-2016
They were going to use different UI backend, but nothing happened. There’s a lot of time spent in UI, especially now and it’s just weird. When I brought this up few months back, most people told me changes aren’t necessary and it’s better than it was. Well, yes, it is, but it’s still bad.

just try buying multiple loadout cases at few times and you’ll see ui go glitchy and sluggish!

Honestly the bad UI is the main reason I dislike daily rewards. I end up getting disconnected from a match, but instead of being able to rejoin, I’m forced to sit there for an eternity watching the sparkly glorified default case animation

I can’t think of a single button in the current UI that actually does anything within the first second of clicking it.

I remember this being brought up quite often already. Could it be that the client update from 32 to 64 bit have something to do with that? If the menu is sluggish with good graphics, it could be a cpu thing. But hell, I am pro in chemistry, not computers

So, there will be an UI system upgrade next year! That’s great news
