Could DB's artstyle be improved?

After seeing Dunkey’s video:

This got me thinking, how could DB differentiate itself from the oversaturated market of scfi-fi shooters?
I remember the time I tried getting into DB, back when it launched in 2015, and thought it was another CoD wannabe, and oh boy… was I sooo wrong… trying it for the second time, half year later, changed my taste in online games forever!

Do you feel the game needs something better, or are you fine with it?

Personally, I think the game looks enough “comic-booky”, so maybe it could have a toggleble option of cell shading? Especially without going into goofy caricatures, reminiscent of TF2 and OW.

I like it the way it is. If anything, I’d appreciate some darker tones and maps but it seems like we’ll be getting that in Castle so I’m all set. I never care about graphics at all. Performance and framerate will always be more important to me.

most of the knuckle draggers use potato graphics in game, they only want high-end to make “Leroy Jenkins” frag movies to show off their leet skillz on poo tube

subjective

I don’t care about graphic or artstyle, when I play I always use mid/low and when the game is fast you just focus on killing moving enemies.
I’m used to 2000 games like quake and I had fun even without 1080 full realistic stuff

BUT some in game faces really suck…

I like the graphics as it is. They’re actually the reason I started playing the game, I like that futury-quarantine style.
Cell-shading has been getting boring since borderlands. Sure it was cool there, but it gets lame after the 50th game, and in some cases even looks lazy when it’s not properly used.

Personally, I’d prefer they saturate things a bit more and focus a lot on the colours that make DB’s style DB. Rather than change the art style, just make it more obvious. But that’s just me, I like colourful stuff.

I also believe no amount of graphics style changes will really make a huge difference either. It’s the gameplay that keeps people here, and that’s what needs the most focus.

When i started to play DB the game was looking “dull”…But the recents graphic reworks were awesome.
In my opinion, the game lacks of “immersion”.
Some little details could be added to the maps like sounds at random times or weather effects.

Chapel : soft rain and some puddles , church bell ringing
Dockyard : seagull sounds , ship horn from afar
Terminal : automatic recorded announcements from speakers
Bridge : Train / Metro / Ambulance sounds from afar
Trainyard : mist in the lowests area of the map , crows sounds…

Wish I could spam the like button more. This is exactly what I’d like to get behind. Instead of changing the way players or etc looks, I just want to add more environmentally defining sounds and small map additions to the maps we have and will have.

I seriously hope that Vault’s light towers have lights that scan, rather than stay static patches on certain areas.

Yeah, ambient sounds could do a lot to improve this game environment, as long as there’s an option to turn them off, because I know some people may not like it

while I truly enjoy a lot of immersion through ambient audio and little details like blowing papers and tiny flowers peaking out from cracks in pavement in a single player game, I don’t feel many people will toggle them on while playing online, need to hear and concentrate, guaranteed comp boys will never see nor hear any of that. That said, might make interesting DLC

The graphics always bothered me. It just removes so much potential from skins in the future and I just want my games to look good.

But as much as I want better graphics, I feel like at this point there are things that are way more important than it, but maybe in a year or 2 I wouldn’t mind if they released some 20GB ultra HD DLC pack that will make the graphics more realistic or just updated the current graphics to look better

I think the game looks nice (except for Javelin’s 2D pic that’s weirdly poorly drawn), but it lacks soul.
BRINK was SO MUCH different in that aspect. DB looks like a generic version of Brink, it has no soul. You don’t even know who fights for what, the games doesn’t make you care. I’m so uninvolved with the theme of the game that I generally don’t know if I’m playing the “good” or “bad” guys, or if there are even bad guys here. Same mercs (& even same color with those cobalts) in both teams doesn’t really help.

The only differences between CDA and Jackals are the emblem and commander voice…
The problem is that the current skin/card system doesn’t allow to differenciate CDA and Jackals guys…except if you create two “versions” for every skin…which requires a massive amount of work, it’s just not worth it.
The mercs skins share the same 3D model ( few special edition excepted ), create 2 3D model for every merc could be a solution.
