costumization

hi there !! i have to ask they be a costum wepons in this game right !? gest like in blacklight or brink with muzzle barrels reciever stocs and etc. with be verry exciting game with this costum wepon !! and more atractive for players!

soo i hope they do that or something difrents to not be a copie:tongue: of other game with love AdamHankes:D

No info on whether that will be the case yet or not, but I bet most people around here hope it’s not, adding attachments to guns begs the question how will they be balanced? Suppose adding a different barrel makes the gun do more damage, and you have to pay for that barrel. This makes the game ā€œpay to winā€, something SD have already said they won’t do.

Personally I think they will have to do stuff like this, to make money from the game, I just hope an attachment that gives an advantage in one respect (like more damage) has a corresponding disadvantage (like more recoil), but again it would be hard to balance all of that I suppose.

[QUOTE=AdamHankes;436094]Hi there, i have to ask will there be a custom weapon system in this game? Just like in blacklight or brink such as muzzle barrels, fast mags, extra ammo etc. with this feature i think it will make the game more exciting and the custom weapon system will attract more players.

I hope they implement a similar system or something unique along these lines compared to other similar games that use a custom weapon system.

Firstly - had to fix it for the sake of myself and many others.

Secondly - My point of view, would be to stay away from these customizable weapon systems… they just unbalance all the guns making them more powerful in certain situations and less powerful in another. They provide the opportunity for an uneven playing field to occur as they usually require XP to unlock, therefore increasing an advantage between new players and experienced players without being relevant to skill/game knowledge as an advantage. These systems are usually awfully implemented as most of the options go unused as a mainstream OP setup is always figured out.

In terms of attracting more players, i think this system will not be a selling point, the classes/maps/objective based teamplay and F2P model will get people to try it out (+ good marketing campaign)… then putting in meaningless progression systems that reward you with levels/badges to showoff and global stats site which people can brag about tends to keep people grinding towards a goal, as it is their mentality to appear the ā€˜best’ (even though it is never the case) will get a certain player-base (one’s that would react to a customizable weapon system:COD fanboi’s - need a vomit smiley here) to stay around for a longer time.

totally agree with samurai

in my view such systems aim to conceal a poorly balanced game and add ā€œartificialā€ content to the game. Not developing new guns, instead add some attachment for each gun, so ppl wont need more guns, because thats enough diversity. There is always a certain combination superior to others, every players aims for the best combo… there is no need for " low end combinations".

Additional, a game like Blacklight has way too many armor pieces, helmets… etc. im feeling like playing Diablo^^ you start a game with your standard stuff. and in the game you have no chance cause ppl have way better guns/ammunition/armor which a ton of attributes as in a rpg. Dang i dont want this in a shooter, that is way too much, way too hard to balance all this factors. oO The one who has premium, and a lot of ingame money and exp, will rule the majority. You could spent couple of hours to set up your equipment just in order to get pwd on the next server you join lol.

ditto… but I am still all for cosmetic attachments.

Butt stocks that can accessorise with the right camo, and the right muzzle flash colour.

Though the one partial advantage attachment I still think should be an option are sights. Your standard selection of Iron Sights, Red Dot, and Holo. Some guns I prefer the look of a Red Dot, some the Iron Sights. As long as it doesn’t zoom in more than the default iron sights, and comes down to a personal preference when focus aiming, I don’t see that being a balancing issue.

As much as some of us probably wouldn’t want to see this we probably will. Thing is I’m thinking it will be more like cosmetic looks to weapons an the players. Or slightly different stats, with different sounds, that still do the same thing.

Amen. …

i want a sniper costume from etqw i am willing to pay

(Breo) #9

But what if the default weapon has the best configuration? Like if you want a red dot it will scope in slower or a larger magazine has slightly more recoil and silencer does less damage.

(AdamHankes) #10

don t forget this game is made with money !!! real money and soo they have to make money from us the players 1! it is freee to play but with out money the game ends gest likeWAR in BATLLE ZONE eU servers are emptyy ! to bad !
IF THE CREATORS OF THIS GAME MAKE STUFF LIKE COSTUM FOR WEAPONS is good for me i am very agree with this

(tokamak) #11

Customisation is highly important for F2P games. You need to get players invested in their characters. You can’t just work with premade stuff. That becomes stale very quickly.

(Nail) #12

why would that happen, red dot sights let you acquire targets easier, faster, and allow you to stay aware, larger magazine, more weight, steadier weapon platform, silencer, yep less damage less distance

I like costumization over customization

I want a clown nose in game

(tokamak) #13

But wouldn’t that let your opponent acquire targets easier?

(Nail) #14

special occasions, like santa hats and antlers for playin North Pole

edit: W:ET reference for those wondering

(Bangtastic) #15

in order to make money they must drive the DLC road, or some sort of starter pack which costs 20-30 bucks. some skins, some guns etc. as long as there are no maps involved it is no problem for me. As long as SD is providing more cosmetic stuff and a few guns one after another. np. If stuff looks cool enough, things will sell, many ppl love eyecandy.

SD must insert a donate button^^ simple as that -> Buy the game for any price, and maybe also introduce same hall of fame for donations  i think SD has done their homework so they know about. What about micro kickstarterlike projects for DirtyBomb itself? Skinpacks, maps, guns etc? ppl can propose stuff and vote, when its accepted by SD they can also donate for it (donations are a must then^^), ^^ That would be a great idea somewhere. Its like making your own char in LoL^^

(Nail) #16

gloves is the easiest thing to sell, you always see them, I’d like some in ostrich, others might want alligator, pig skin, checker plate, polished stainless whatever, fiddy cents ?

(Breo) #17

Because I thought ppl will say ā€œP2Wā€ if you can make the weapons better? :o:o

I want this cookie monster hoody for the customisation xD

(Nail) #18

that’s why I like costumes over customs
costumes should cost actual $
customizing ie: red dots, silencers, fore grips, drum mags, etc, should be unlocks earned ingame, permanency to be debated

agree with you

(zeroooo) #20

Pls!!! God!!! Dont do this costumizeable weapon…

If players want that, go play cod. There u can lame around!!!

Dont put anything in which destroys the balance of the weapons!!

Sell retarded hats in shop like in tf2 xD

Just kidding, visual effects like playskins / weapon skins / or anything else which isnt changing anythin on the balance is absolutely okay. But nothing else. Otherwise you will destroy all the work we are doing now. If there will be perks which make your gun stronger theres no need to balance them, what we are trying to do atm! Cause no pubnubs will play with uncostumized not op balanced weapon if there is a possibility to make the weapon of the medic for example do the same dmg as the mg from soldier… if there is no possibility to customize, random pub players just play soldier or some thing with a gun with high damage rate…

PLS SD dont destroy your game!
