Coordination type of objectives

Thinking about Dome’s first objective, it would be nice to see new types of objectives that require two sub-teams to complete. For example two guys opening a comm-channel and having to secure it for the other 3 guys to send the data through from another location. Could replace the two containers.

This is just a suggestion, could be fun and fit well comp play. Yay ? Nay ?

Yay,

Game in general could benefit from larger variety of objectives. What happenned to oasis anti-tank guns, bridge building, railgun controls, command posts, etc. etc.

Most of the objectives in this game boil down to ‘kill every enemy in vicinity’. I miss obj stations which are covered from long distance fire, but vulnerable from up close.

I like the idea of two sequential objectives, first do X, only later you have access to Y; in the meantime opponents can rebuild X, stopping completion of Y.

Nay, to your example with all players of the team working simultaneously on one objective. Would be too difficult to do, because you musn’t forget the opponent team.

With some changes I would give it a test run though. For example with no progress reset and less players doing it.

I love the idea!

I just don’t think it would work in practice… specially on public play.

something like:

hack access controls - you have 30 sec to deliver/use/repair an objective in a different spot, but not that far either.

I think it could work easily, even on pubs.

Yay!

It shouldn’t hinder the main objective to be completed though. Really like the idea Szakalot mentions, add more stuff to complete and objective in a different (read: faster) way.

As an example, on Trainyard, if you repair a power node on the left side (between the MG house and the floodgates) and hack a door on the right side (on the attacker side of the building with no roof) to open up a new path that is quicker to the delivery point. Or it could create a “block” of sorts for the defenders rather than opening up a new route for the attackers.

this worked great in ET (Supply Depot).

One part of the team needed to Hold the room with the ‘button’. other part of the team needed to deliver gold to the door, that was opened via button.
Enemy team could hold the room(recapture the room and repress the button to close the door), OR wait at the door.

the layout was great. Guys at the Button could easily see the door and nearby area, but the could not shoot from there (Glass window)

also we had some kind of this in ETQW - for example vanilla Volcano - Flyier drone defence could destroy Flyer Drones OR could search for the infiltrators (that control drones, or both).

i am all for this!!

Globally it seems the idea could work. Indeed in Supply Depot the last objective was really fun, and this is the kind of objectives I’d like to see more in DB because they have:

  • A real reason to be there
  • Involves more communication in the team
  • Allows more strategies
  • Will diversify the objectives for the game.

I like a lot Szakalot’s idea of sequential objectives. Concurrent ones might work but only for comp -> SW.

are you sure you talk about supply depot. sounds more like delivery.

also you could shoot through a small hole in the middle of the window.you could also as attacker throw grandes through it or trickjump the kists up and shoot on defenders.
