Container City Spawn Issue Solution

(Terminator514) #1

We all know that there doesn’t seem to be a way to fix the spawn camping issue which is everpresent on CC; however I’ve thought of a solution. Alternating spawn locations.

When first coming out of the spawn, furthest to the right, we see a little platform to stand on that is also to the right. If this were used as an alternate spawn location, along with a few other spots, spawncamping would most likely be less prevalent.

What do you guys think?

(AmishWarMachine) #2

I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, but every once in awhile, I find myself having spawned at the entrance closest to the command post… kinda where I think you’re describing, or at least close by it.

(Terminator514) #3

Actually I meant the second exit right to the right of the one you describe. Then you head up that way and to your right there is a platform that is a little isolated.

I’ve never seen spawn camping between two evenly matched teams.

If you have unbalanced teams, then you get spawn camping in any game.

The best way to get out of a spawn camping situation in Brink would be to just kill the spawn campers… You aren’t at a huge disadvantage coming out of the spawn. Assigning random percentages…I’d say that if Resistance is outside your spawn, they have like a 20% advantage on you… but because they are further away from their spawn, it is more difficult for them to maintain control over multiple pushes. Security has like a 50% advantage over time in controlling the area outside of their spawn, and their side of the gate.

Spawncamping is the result of one team working together better than the other. I don’t think anything needs to be fixed in terms of where the team spawns. If you find yourself locked in, it’s up to you and your team to find your way out.

Container city does have little bottlenecks coming out the spawn area but it’s not often I find myself on a team that’s stuck there. Thus, it’s the quality of the team (or lack of!) that causes it.

It’s not impossible to get out.

I think a lot of the time it is down to imbalanced teams, no one with flashbangs or people too scared to leave as a team, so they sit in spawn sniping :\

Genius! Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

(tangoliber) #8

The point is that Security has the advantage in that part of the map due to the proximity to respawn, and the benefit of being the attacking team…there is really no spawn trap…just one team getting out-gunned.

Security doesn’t even have to outgun Resistance to get out…as long as they do some damage, they can get out on the 2nd push.

(Stormchild) #9

The problem is that security don’t have much spots to hide and cover when out of their spawn, whereas resistance can be already entrenched in corners and in the upperbridge with snipers and all… Like in the alternate passage where you have to climb, it is not very difficult to stay up there with an advantage over security, and there are covers to help too. As security, you have to come out in the open directly.

Using flash grenades is vital, have a couple with flash grenades and as long as you’re not stupid enough to flash yourself and not your opponent you should be able to break free there. That’s my experience on that map at least

(Raga) #12

ahahaha :penguin:

(Crytiqal) #13

The thing is,

the attacking team has to come out of 1 of the 2 exits.

The defending team can guard these two exits from every position they are at.

So they can get into cover left, right, front, top etc and all they have to do is keep grenading these exits and as soon as one head pops out they can shoot it from everywhere.

You don’t really stand a chance if the enemy team is ducked in with snipers, turrets, grenade launchers, grenades and their guns pointed at the exit.

(ziporco) #14

with flash grenades and 30 seconds spawn of defending team will balance the map.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #15

they would need to change the level to realisticly fix this problem. the fact you spawn in a pit is what causes most of the issue. and there’s no way of changing already liscenced maps.

(Tandem) #16

Huh?, there are plenty of solutions.

Why does your avatar say “Brink Hardcore Club”?,
if this is still an issue for you?

(no sarcasm here)

sec wins about 1/3 of the time on ccity
vs.
res wins about 1/3 of the time on sec tower.

sounds about right (see exedore’s comment about home turf)

egregious spawn camping sucks (see: turret planted at top of stairs, grenade spam into spawn) but with relatively evenly matched teams it shouldnt come to that. i do think some minor tweaks would limit the res team’s ability to hammer a lesser team w/o making it unevenly tipped the other way (slight increase in res timer, etc etc. all said before)

(Crytiqal) #18

They should add a slingshot in the sec spawn which flings players over :stuck_out_tongue:

(thesuzukimethod) #19

w/ just cause 2 style tactical parachute?

you laugh, but i experimented with shooting grenades over the container/spawn wall to see if i could catch the camping team unawares. seems to be some sort of barrier that deflects them, but i didnt mess around with it enough to know for sure…

the biggest problem i have with the cc spawn camping if your playing as security is that as soon as you start to get dominated by resistance some of the security players swap over to resistance making it even harder for the security to break out of there spawn point. it then gets to the stage that the resistance team will be full of human players and because there will then only be 3 or 4 humans left on the security and they can’t swap teams because resistance is full they will just quit the game one by one until you are the only human playing the game for security.

so the issue really is to do with people not liking playing on a losing team and swapping to the winning team. being able to swap teams that will make the teams unbalanced and not re-balancing the weaker team by automatically putting 1 or 2 of the stronger players on the losing side.

if there was a vote team balance option in game and also the ability to swap teams only once while you are playing your current game until you quit to off-line this would help sort out this problem.
