besides all the bugs, grafik-issues ans stuff, here´s my personal wish list for improvement:

  • Better serverbrowser and a lobbysystem
  • no automove-thing when using f-key ( mouse 3 for me)
  • V_says like in et/etqw instead of this auto-talking thing ( maybe swichable for servers), i miss my " medic on route"-V-Say
  • Possibility to define weaponloadouts and select them with one button ( just because its faster)
  • a little more power to “jump”. i´m using jump and crouch besides smart and jumping without smart is almost useless.

and last not least: Fireteams are so important, but the fireteam -management sucks.

SD downgraded some very useful and good things they had in et/etqw due to easy-going and console-players. plz bring them back

MANDATORY SD fixes:

SDK. I need to see the md5meshes, textures, and .defs or I will absolutely die. Also, this game needs some maps to keep it alive, honestly. The release was FUBAR, even though it was a pretty great game. Didn’t help that you guys were trying something completely new. Though I feel I thoroughly understand it (literally, I was wishing for a similar game before someone mentioned it to me), I knew it was going to receive exorbitant criticism for being so unfamiliar.

Bug fixes. Yes, this game has plenty of stupid bugs, that I don’t understand how they got past beta testing. Some of them, especially the graphical ones, seem literally impossible to me. On the other hand, I run this game pretty stable for a machine that is way below spec. SLi 9800m GTX with QC9650 3ghz, and 3 gb ddr2. Which boggles me even more. On top of that, there are the acceptable bugs, like some weird walljump glitching an the like that also needs to be fixed.

Reinsert image_picmip and similar performance enhancement commands. I could get this to hit 60 steady with some of those improvements, I would imagine.

Getting online. I can’t get online on my own account machine and have to play on a friend’s. Why? Dunno. I have the Connection Reset error in ETQW, so that might be the same problem? Dunno. No one can friggin’ tell me how they fixed that either..

Leaning and reloading. There is absolutely no reason you should not be able to do that, or vise versa. It’s crazy, I tell you. Also, you cannot unscope in the middle of a a rifle’s discharge animation. Bonkers..

Wish List:

+Kick like noquarter. Why? Your melee attack prevents you from shooting, why not have a +kick that prevents you from moving, but allows you to still shoot? Win win?

Dynamic objectives. I really wish you guys would have considered objectives that move, similar to the difficulty settings on the challenges moving objs around. Having them be static every time, while perfectly fine for me, would have been a great improvement over ETQW, even though I could still play those maps 1000 more times.

Non-Linear campaign. Also, it would be great if the campaign was non-linear. Meaning that if a team won or lost a map they would be brought to a different point in the campaign with different objectives that need to be completed. It would have added a massive amount of replayability to the game without the need for a crazy amount of maps. What you really could have done is flag some walls, bridges, objectives, and surfaces as being part of a different lineage of the campaign so that the map could be really dynamic and suited for different situations. You guys did the same thing in ETQW, where really interesting portions of maps never ever had a shot fired around them because the meta game could only really be carried out within a limited vicinity making the maps seem smaller.

Covert ops need to be able to use weapons while in uni. They lose uni after first few shots, meaning they can kill with precision. They are pretty weak as it is. There’s no reason to dwarf them because the’yre a “solo class.”

Yeah, that’s about it, I think.

Wait!! Don’t add CTF or TDM. Let the community do that when you release an SDK..

I will never play Brink again if you do. Probably not true. Don’t do it anyway.

played all classes and all body types now (havent stick too much to the heavy guy and to the medic so far) and got my first 20s.

The main point for me is getting more into detailed ways spreading out more.

for classes: make the class-abilities more diverse and more to pick from. if you could go for a supply soldier having buffed armors, giving out specific ammo types and this stuff, but also could decide to go for the explosive soldier throwing grenades of all kind, planting bombs.

the medics could go for buffing of all kinds, reviving and healing and maybe they can get some sort of poisons and braincrashing toxics.

the engi could go for the tactical guy placing mines and turrets (therefor you defenitly have to fix the goddamned too long responsetime of turrets so they do acutally lock an enemy before he can run up to it killing it with meleeattacks)
or he could go for a mobil type going for attachments, experimental inventions, this stuff.

the operative could go for disguising and assasinating around with a knife/sword (with a very short interaction from behind maybe?) or could go for range scoping from different angles at the enemys weakest point.

Closely related to this you should go for a bigger amount of really different weapons, go for smth creative like a blade if someone wants to go for it or balistic weapons, flamethrowers, injectors, shields and and and, doesnt matter if they are a bit underused as long as some are using them the diversity would make a great impact.

the last two points are actually a bit more diversity in maps (i am sure you will go for this anyway) and pls, pls fix the heavy guy! there is so less good use for him and his weaknesses are dominating his positives! he definitly have to get some more lethality and effectivity at all or has to get his weaknesses reduced.

and ofcoure get rid of the bugs and the joining problems mentioned a lot of times in here :slight_smile:

Since my last post on this thread I’ve tried to squeeze in as much Brinking as possible, and I’m happy to say I’m not rage quiting any more. Really enjoying it.

Switching character
I agree with the no character switching in game crowd, however it really needs to be implemented between matches. Joined one session as a heavy, every one else was a heavy, mini guns galore, end of the game, the cut-scene showed my team jumping in the helicopter and it looked like the weight watchers army.

Gun reloads
Sometimes I will reload my weapon with a few rounds left in the clip, I will fire as soon as the reload animation finishes, yet because the game thinks it hasn’t finished, I suddenly have only 5 rounds in my clip. Could just be lag, in that the reload animation is not in synch with the timer in the bottom right corner of the HUD.

Medics are frustrating
particularly when playing defence. Number of times I downed a half dozen guys, only to have one medic bolt in and revive them before I can reload. Either make the re-spawn time longer, or make incapacitated soldiers less bullet proof.

Matchmaking
The one thing that isn’t broken with FPS games on the console is the way they find people, put them in a lobby, and then let them play. So why fix it? I don’t mind the toasters filling out the last couple of spots on my team, so long as the bot to human ratio is in favour of us meatbags.

Seriously loving the game though, breath of fresh air from CoD.

Giving an easy way to select a bodytype at the start of the match would be great. I’m fine with it being stuck for a game, but giving away your slot on the server for what I feel is a very justified change seems a bit off.

Reason why I brought up the idea of female types is for to get more players out there instead of the haters, (meaning wives, girlfriends, etc.) The more players playing, the merrier things can be. (I have a wife who doesn’t like video games, so if she were to create a character, maybe her mindset would change. LOL)

Just had another game of Brink. I’m really enjoying the gameplay. Here’s some of my feedback (PC):

[li]As many other people, I really miss VSay. Nobody ever uses VOIP, voice chat was sooo helpful in ETQW.[/li][li]I have to agree about the function of the ‘F’ key. In the game I just had, I tried to buff someone but ended up actually changing class using a nearby Command Post without even realising! Could there be 2 distinct keys for manual and auto action?[/li][li]I can’t seem to join friends from within the game (using the Steam overlay). I have to exit the game to do this. [Although I don’t dare because this seems to cause the lost character data bug][/li][/ul]

Don’t forget the Friendly Fire filter.

And a proper “info” button to call up and see full details of the server before joining. ie IP address, players that are on there, their pings in actual numbers. If it’s a Custom match, a list of every setting choice (like those annoying servers that come up with a rejection because your rank is too high).

NO BOTs filter too. Another absolute must for my tastes. Been mentioned before and worth mentioning again.

One thing that bugs me alot about matches… I remember the days when the prior ETs had servers of up to 32 players. Again, for the PC version, a 16 play cap is too low. 24 or 32 would be a nice option once the lag issues are ironed out.

And as far as operatives go… bring back the naked corpse/insta backstab mechanic from Wolf ET. It makes sense within the context of the Brink world, just have the defiled corpse corrupted by an EMP style flicker to show the radiation side effect or however you want to justify it for the lore… a subtle sign of infiltration would be good and encourages people to expand their ingame awareness. And if not an insta backstab, at least a taser-from-behind knockdown attack that is unique to the op and doesn’t break their disguise if nobody actually has the attack in their line of sight. Maybe make that taser an EMP shock to the victim’s entire HUD as well.

The Wolf ET Covert Ops is still the best spy type class of any multiplay game to date. Tweak the Brink Operative to be as fun and dynamic to play.

Speaking of friendly fire, during one game this past weekend I remember one of my teammates stating something about me hitting him/her with some rounds. But I believe it didn’t effect him/her in any way. (Wasn’t playing with friendly effect on.)

Well the most amazingly ridiculous thing happened to me today and it warrants a post, was running along in a nice little bottle necked hallway, guys behind me, guys infront, so the guy infront throws a grenade into the hallway, I had absolutely no choice but to try and run over it and take him out (like 3 behind me and just the 1 guy to the front) so I attempt to run over it and get COMPLETELY stuck LITERALLY ontop of the nade and start bouncing up and down until it exploded and killed me…needless to say, fixy fix

For me the big things are:-

  1. lose the challenges. They serve no useful purpose. What do you learn in the parkour this challenge that is actually necessary in the game? Unlocking guns through pointless challenges and clothes from levelling up is just silly.

  2. Fix the lag. Especially on the 360 :slight_smile:

  3. some sort of stats page displayable from the main menu. Not necessarily mega in depth stats, but some sort of stats page (as in BFBC2) would be nice.

  4. Keepow what we the DLC coming! more maps, modes, customization options and weapons etc to keep the game as fresh as possible for as long as possible.

  5. Tie bot AI to difficulty level only and de-nerf the allied bots.

  6. Keep a close eye on the forum. We, the paying public, know what we like and what we are prepared to pay for.
