Console poll: accuracy/spread

(NthLegion) #1

It pains me to even start this thread, because I feel this subject has been discussed ad nauseam. However, judging from recent posts, it seems the SD devs still consider increased accuracy/reduced spread something only PC players want. So, in one last effort to define the issue for console players, please vote in the poll above.

Edit: An example of current weapon accuracy.

Where did they say they think it’s only something wanted by PC players? They’ve stated repeatedly that the weapon tweaks although not identical will be rolled out across platforms. The tweaks are never going to be identical though due to the different controls used on each system.

(tangoliber) #3

They won’t be identical because some of the stuff they want to do requires a patch. My guess is that console tweaks will be limited to netvars. Since they have clarified that, I won’t bug them about it anymore. But they did originally imply that PC players wanted the higher accuracy.

Other than that, there is no reason to make the tweaks different, since it isn’t as if mouse users are playing against controller users…the game controls pretty much the same. The only real difference is that aiming down sights is easier on PC. So, unless you are going to add more aim-assist when using sights to consoles, there is no reason to come up with different tweaks due to controls.

See badman’s post on the first page of this thread.

Honestly, at this point, I only play Brink occasionally. With over 130 hours in freeplay alone, I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth. Still, I would like to play the game with more accurate weapons, as I expect to play Brink off and on for some time.

Game update is coming with clan support. That requires a MS review anyway. The weapons patch is coming with game update it won’t be only a netvars adjust. To think so is pretty much the exact opposite of what they’re saying. I could certainly be wrong because I obviously don’t have any involvement with SD. PC is getting extra tweaks, but that’s because weapons like the Ritchie are way more functional on console than on PC if you watch videos.

I want decreased spread and improved accuracy as well.

I don’t think clan support will be implemented into the game. I think its a website thing, where we can make groups and maybe schedule matches…but we will probally still have to set up the matches on our own by inviting to private games.

Smooth said “Unfortunately we can’t technically store all of the 1,500 weapon accuracy values in the netvars, and any changes beyond the netvars requires a full title update and submission process with Sony/Microsoft.
On the PC we’re not limited to making changes in the netvars, so there will be more tweaks making their way to the PC first.”

Which sounds to me like we might get a full title update…but we probably won’t…

No…they feel the same. The only difference is that it is easier to aim when using sights on PC. The spread and hit detection is the exact same thing currently…and it is a slightly better weapon on PC. You can’t judge from a video…to say it is more functional on consoles is absurd.

I don’t think clan support will be implemented into the game itself. I think its a website thing, where we can make groups and maybe schedule matches…but we will probally still have to set up the matches on our own.

Nah…they feel the exact same in terms of spread and hit detection and damage. You can’t judge from a video which is mostly close-range shooting.

At close range hit detection appears better on consoles. Feel free to have a different opinion, but that’s my experience. At range yeah they function basically the same. The clan update will include a Game Update with it. They’ve said that repeatedly even in the above link to Badman’s post where he says: “The clan update teased on the Brink site is also still in the works and that’ll naturally come with another round of game updates to plug everything in”

As far as Smooth goes, IMO the emphasis is probably on the tweaks hitting PC first, unlike the effort to launch everything simultaneously like the DLC.

If the changes coming to console are not as extensive as those coming to PC then I’m probably out for good. It’s ****ing ridiculous that I can’t consistently hit someone on the location of their body where I’ve aimed.

I can’t believe anyone voted “No” on this poll. Especially after watching a video like this. You might even want to add said video to your OP as it makes the problems and need for spread reduction/increased accuracy glaringly obvious.

Yes, but mainly the shotgun tweaks i want, the lower spread and more consistency rewards good players with them, not just lucy ones.

I love Lucy.
She was a nice lady.

Hit detection is not better on consoles. It feels the exact same. The spread values are the same, and the bullets fall completely random in the spread for both version. I have both PC and PS3 version.
