Console Game Options/Tweaks?

(FeloNYC) #1

I plan on purchasing BRINK for the 360, and outside of the VoIP, FF on/off, aim assist on/off, mappable controls, rank and abilities restrictions, does anyone know what other, if any, options will be available??? For example, will there be the options to set the objective timer, max players, voting (maps, or to kick annoying players), weapon restrictions, spectator mode, will there be a way to identify the sever host and does the host get to change settings in game? I know the PC version will naturally have many tweakable settings, but what about the console version?

Thanks in advance for any helpful responses/info.

On one hand, it’s a neat idea. On the other hand, what would make you think that might occur? Just the things already listed are more than most console options get, really.

Quake Live has a ton of options through the GUI. You almost don’t even need console access. I would like to think games might adapt a more robust gui.

Well what’s makes me consider the possibility of some if those options making it into the game is that I’ve played, for years, RTCW Enemy Territory on the original Xbox. In that game, there were options for voting for maps, gametypes, restarting the match, and to kick players, there was a spectator mode, FF on/off options, the host could ban people too. There was a list of servers, and if i recall correctly, you could create a dedicated server! They also allowed you to change your screen name and pretty much do all the options I mentioned in my initial post. I rarely see all those options in modern FPS games, but I’ve seen them scattered around. I only wondered because that game was an ID game obviously, and i don’t think they were called Splash Damage back then, but I remember reading that they too had influence on, in my opinion the best Classed Based Shooter ever. I sure hope my opinion changes on May 10!

RTCW as opposed to W:ET is an id Software game on xbox/ps2 (2003) and PC (2001)
W:ET is a PC game by Splash Damage, 2 different companies

Quake Live’s GUI has relatively few options when compared to Quake 2 or Quake 3’s actual cfg files. Though most Q3A options I can remember from back when I was first playing ARE available in Quake Live’s cfg files.

I don’t disagree but it’s more accessible being in the UI rather than a hidden cfg file. My point is I would like to think that the pinnacle of GUI options is not Quake Live. Forgive my knowledge if other games have so many options by default.

Quake Live is pretty much the pinnacle of UI options—especially compared to console games.

Well here’s to hoping developers take notice.

RtCW was made by Gray Matter (SP) and Nerve (MP) for the PC.

To lazy to look up who ported it for PS2 and Xbox.

Raster did the ps2, I think Nerve did xbox as well

my point was different companies

afaik it was pretty popular on the xbox (+ there were some differences to the PC Version)
